USC 2010 Transfer Thread

@03ulima Thanks for the information. Any idea on what your usconnect status said?

My status switched to acted on today!! it switched to forwarded to on thursday! I’m SCA Critical Studies

Marshall students that are accepted must have a minimum of a 3.3 gpa in the Spring. Im not doing so hot this semester. Do you think they’ll rescind my acceptance if I possibly get a 3.16 gpa? :/

@sylvcc8
congrats!! good news should arrive very soon!!

@afresh- its a possibility, but theyre accepting you based on the fact that you have a excellent gpa previously as well as everything else…but honestly, A 3.16 isnt cutting it. you need to kick it up a notch if you can.

@ afresh, I’d just try to hammer things out this semester and finish as best as you can. If you don’t make the 3.3 but have certain extenuating circumstances, I’d write to them or talk to a counselor to try and reason with them.

It’s kinda interesting though…I didn’t have a specific GPA stated in my conditions of acceptance. It just said that I needed to complete the courses I’ve agreed to and that I need to stay away from behavior or academic misconduct, blah blah blah…

@sophusc

I think it’s option 2 because my acceptance package was dated the same day as my “acted on” status. I got an email about my DVD about 2 months ago, so I know SCA was looking at our apps then.

@eraserhead you sent in a DVD?

@MrPopluar

Yeah, I sent a DVD for my visual sample. They emailed me because my DVD didn’t work for them so I had to send them link with it.

@eraserhead ohhh lol I was about to say lol CONGRATS by the way

Hey guys… I went down to the school today to do some preliminary house hunting. Although it was kind of s h itty day to do so. There was the bicycle race that came through town today and figueroua (spelling) was completely shut down and traffic was an absolute nightmare.

I was ****ed because I wanted to look at some stuff downtown but with the roads closed, it was impossible. I did make it over to the Medici, and although it seems like an incredibly nice facility, I am really not interested. The hassle getting to school from there and back is just more of an inconvenience than I would want to deal with. Plus, something about the vibe there just didn’t sit well with me. The only other place I am interested in looking at downtown is City Lights on Fig. It has gotten really good reviews from what I have seen and its also the closest of the apartments in that area to the school. Gonna try and make it by there as soon as I get a chance.

I also went by University Gateway. I must say, that place is super impressive. The building is sooooo rad. They have a really nice study area downstairs, 3 private study rooms on each floor, a nice gym, cool lobby with a bunch of TV for games and stuff and a bunch of other amenities. One thing I also likes was the fact that all of floors in the building are of concrete construction which mostly eliminates all the noise from neighbors. They also told me they are considering putting spas and BBQ’s in the courtyards as well. Cant beat the location either. They have a special right now no app fee or deposit and with the promotion it works out to be like 945 a month, which is cheaper than you will find anything that nice. Only draw back is the sharing a 1000sqft unit amongst 4 people. Personally, I don’t know if I would be able to deal with the lack of privacy but I am still contemplating, otherwise, its just too good of a package to pass up.

I came across a street I really liked called Ellendale (I think). Had a good vibe and there were some really nice looking complexes. Unfortunately, none of the leasing companies were open today so I didn’t get to take a look inside any of them.

If any of you guys have some questions I may be able to help answer them… I was down there all day and got a decent feel for the area around campus.

BTW did I mention that traffic was an absolute nightmare… haha

I have a question: If I took courses at another CC and didn’t submit them, Do you think they would possibly rescind their acceptance?

@afresh

where did you find out about the gpa req for the spring semester?
I don’t see it on any of the three sheets of paper in the packet.

Did you get a SGR or are doing pre-reqs this semester?

HopefulTransfer9, depends. If the courses lower your GPA by a substantial amount then they could quite possibly rescind their offer.

@mxbile131 wow thanks! that was very helpful :)

geez left the forum for just one day and came back to so much drama! hahah that was interesting…

& congrats to everyone that got in!!

@marshall people
we should start a marshall group and all meet each other/take classes together :)

Hi everyone! I am an international applicant from Malaysia and my status has been forwarded for committee review for almost 2 weeks. what does this indicates? Im gettin worried!

@mxb- My thoughts are exactly like yours when it comes to Gateway. I think that place seems awesome in practically every aspect–except I’m not 100% sure I want to share a room with someone like I’m in a dorm, especially for $900+ a month. You should fill out the roommate questionaire on the CC facebook group. I think I’m the only one who has so far, haha.

@actionupon did you try the backdoor method?
