USC 2010 Transfer Thread

Just called and they received them, they said to disregard what it says online…

I still get the feeling i’m gonna be stressing out waiting.

My PO Box is 20 miles away so i’m gonna be driving them every few days in hopes of getting a response.

I updated my address, but it doesn’t work… Since my status changed to “act on”, I am worried if i can get the letter whether acceptence or rejection. I just need the letter… waiting kills me.

I was admited to UCSD, but I am still waiting for Marshall. I hope know the desicion before June 1… God help me!

Does anyone know that USC mail the decision to only mailing address or both permenant and mailing address?

I don’t know if I should be happy/sad right now, but my status FINALLY changed to:

“Your application has been forwarded for committee review.”

FINALLY a status change…“your application has been forwarded for committee review”…so generally how fast does the status need to change for it to be good?

@mrxl33 - Well considering everything will be changing to acted upon quickly since we’re so close to the 1st, there is no way to guess your decision at this point.

@kulakai yeah you are right…getting status change this late just makes you nervous…damn usc haha

@mrxl33 try getting an SGR and a forwarded to status change the same week of the “majority” of people…more stressful hahhaa

question!

so i had the we are unable to process status earlier this week and a missing transcript from my current 4-year. now my status is forwarded to committee for review, and my admissions documents show that i have three transcripts (which is impossible) but that i need to submit one more.

any idea of what this means? thanks!

@rhandler33 haha I feel you

i just checked the backdoor way!!! IT WORKED!

which method?

@Rhandler- CONGRATULATIONS!!! x1000

What is the “back door method” of checking your acceptance?

1) Open USConnect in Internet Explorer. Not Firefox, Internet Explorer. Or whatever you use normally to view USConnect. I find that IE is the most reliable for this job. If you use Firefox you can go to the “admitted applicants” page from the dropdown menu and log in manually by clicking the “enrollment deposit” box. But that’s the long way. If you try copy and pasting the URL into Firefox, you’ll just get a blank page.
2) Log in to USConnect. You may want to check the Admission tab first to see if you’ve gotten the boxes on your portal yet. If not, then move onto step 3.
3) Without closing the page where you just logged in, copy and paste the link https://usconnect.usc.edu:447/Render...ification.aspx</a> into the same page’s URL box. Go to this new URL. It’s important that you don’t close the page where you initially logged in, otherwise it will log you out and you’ll get a blank page.
4) A white page will come up with the “enrollment deposit” box in the top left corner. Click the box.
5) It will either say “user is unauthorized” or it will have a form pre-filled with your name, address, etc. You want the latter.
6) Sometimes this method doesn’t work even if you have been accepted. It takes up to 7 days for the link to work so even if it doesn’t let you access it, you still may have been accepted.

@Anyone who knows- Is Gateway exclusively USC students?

nice question! law degree maybe?

@wghiller open to all schools

Thanks, Mr. Popular. But it is exclusive to students in general, I take it?

@wghiller i think so. Im pretty sure its geared towards kids.

where can I check my USC EFC?

ballamalla, you could go to The CollegeBoard’s (the site where you filled out the CSS/Profile) website and do the *institutional method *calculator to estimate how much a school that uses the CSS/Profile might expect you to contribute. Each school uses their own formula, however, so it would be a very roough estimate.

Another way to do a rough estimate was mentioned several pages back by another poster (I would like to give them credit, but you kids move SO fast on this thread I would never be able to find it…). For a VERY rough estimate, take your FAFSA EFC and ADD 5.6% of your home equity and all assets you listed on the CSS/Profile that you were not required to list on the FAFSA.

After you get your financial aid package, you can call USC and ask what went into figuring your contribution - they are very willing to explain it - and you would have an opportunity to correct any errors.
