USC 2010 Transfer Thread

@jin you should just call USC and ask about the conditions of your acceptance and explain your situation and ask them what to do… maybe they’ll let you retake those classes in the fall before you attend USC in the spring?

@iwes & rbkhoops
Looking at last years decisions, it looks like the latest that people with SGR’s found out is in late July. Since your spring semester ends later than most, I’m thinking you guys probably won’t find out until July…you might be able to speed up the process by sending in your unofficial transcripts and contacting your counselor first!

I’ve completed 55 units at my previous institution. Does know how many of these units will transfer? A big concern of mine is that my previous school operated on a 3-unit system, and it appears most of USC’s classes are 4-units. Does this mean I’ll have to take courses over again at USC simply to earn that extra 1-unit? If so, that would probably mean I won’t be attending USC.

@xdzzzrawr i have 100 transferable credits. I think my essay is strong, but probably not outstanding enough to get acceptance. I had my friend and advisor looked over before submitting tho. I’m wondering if it’s because I only have one work experience listed, so I decided to apply for opt to be able to work here for a year to re-apply…

wghiller, you should probably just email USC on that one. Most of the people here don’t have a completed credit report and that could take a week or two yet. The ones who do are mostly from areas with articulation agreements. Of course, maybe you already have. Never hurts to ask here, too. I tried searching for the answer but I didn’t find anything in USC’s transfer policies on credit equivalence.

My transfer credit report finally posted on OASIS. Says it was prepared today (6/3) at 3:59 AM. Heh…

For reference, I was accepted on 5/10.

I seem to have lost my paper detailing the instructions to send my spring grades. Could anyone tell me the address to send spring grades via U.S. mail?

Thanks.

@stargurl93

Yep! I applied for the Film Studies major, so it was a safety, safety school.

They said decisions will be made by the end of this week but I’m still stuck on pending! As for USC, I haven’t received my decision from them, but I’m guessing it’ll take a while because I’m international.

How’re things on your side?

@Serapher- I did e-mail them, and she e-mailed me back and told me that I will still get full credit for the courses completed in those areas. The requirements are based on courses completed, not on hours. I’m pretty excited about that, because it should mean that I’ll get to take an extra elective or two since I used less hours on some of the general requirements.

Via U.S. Mail:

Office Manager
USC Office of Admission
P.O. Box 77952
Los Angeles, CA 90007-0952

Got this straight from my SGR letter and triple-checked the numbers bc you DO NOT want something as important as your transcripts getting lost-it’ll save time and hairs! lol

@USPlacer

Thanks! Just sent them in. However, I had to send in two transcripts, one for my home institution and one from another school in which I am enrolled in. Hopefully, they will both reach them on time.

Here’s hoping for the best!

STATUS UP: I went from unable to process ----> your app has been forwarded to the committee (6/01/10) ----> acted up (6/03/10) !!!

“The committee has acted on your application, and we have mailed notice of the decision. If for some reason you do not receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results this over the phone beginning June 11th.”

can some one post the backdoor method site because when i click on it it goes blank and nothing shows up

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/743892-usc-2010-transfer-thread-546.html

Try the bottom most link first since it’s the easiest method.

@tbibbs don’t be too hasty, chances are you got in with the fast turn around from forwarded to acted on, the backdoor method works only when the automated enrollment releases a new wave of all recently accepted students, it doesn’t update as they mail out and make acceptances one at a time, therefore, you need to try it periodically throughout the day, or even in the next couple of days. The system is SET on a specific date and time to update all those who will have access to the enrollment box, so just be patient.

@tbibbs - When did they receive your official transcript and you are Marshall right?

I faxed grade cards on May 17th, but it didn’t get updated until i e-mailed a counselor on June 1st. My official transcript won’t be faxed until tomorrow, but the counselor said the grade cards would suffice for the time being. And Yes I applied to Marshall. I earned a 4.0 this year and I am a freshman at Sierra College.

@serapher - THANKS!!! I LOGGED IN and it has all of my stuff put it and asks about oreintation!!! So I am in!!!

Ok so there seems to be a pattern of 2 weeks after faxing/emailing in grades/unofficial transcript, it gets forwarded to the committee. I got mine in on the 25th so hopefully I’ll see a status change next week then.

Why when I use this link https://usconnect.usc.edu:447/Render/ServiceRender/AdmUGCertification.aspx

it goes to a blank page? I’m trying to use backdoor method or whatever the name is, help me please.

Amen to that!
