USC 2010 Transfer Thread

USC lost my respect. At the end of this quarter, I will be senior standing at UCLA. I got my acceptance package today for USC. They gave me my backup major (Math/Econ), and had me entering as a freshman. They sent the housing for freshmen only… All of that stuff. You have to be kidding me. 130 Units done at UCLA that wouldn’t count… seriously?

Why don’t you graduate from UCLA?

I wanted to study entrepreneurship/finance as an undergrad :</p>

A maximum of 64 units can be transferred. I’m pretty sure they send everyone that same housing packet, too. Go to OASIS and check your transfer credit report. Are all your courses listed? If not, they aren’t finished the evaluation.

I think the recent wave of admits haven’t had transfer credit evaluated.
I was accepted on the 22nd and it still doesnt show up on oasis.

cd720 you should just give them a call if you are serious about attending but realistically only 64 semester units would apply towards graduation. Also , don’t count AP credits in your class standing cause you need courses taken @ USC.

I’ll take your guys advice and wait it out. Have my summer general chem class to worry about anyways.

So final grades are now released. Pretty fast considering our semester just ended this past Sunday, and Monday was a holiday.

Good news: My Physical Geography Lab professor gave me an A for my SGR papers, and signed it; Bad news: He gave me a B for his submitted grade to transcript.

This is awesome!!! I love headaches!!!

Edit: Wow, he responded to my e-mail within minutes. It will be fixed tomorrow morning. Good luck to everyone submitting their SGRs!!!

Budlightyear, I am in the EXACT SAME POSITION! Given an A on my signed grade report but was given a B (biology class, I’m a Marshall major so Im hoping it’s not a big deal) except my professor did not email me back
anyone think it will cause problems?

jmoney - I’m thinking it isn’t going to hurt us much, as long as your overall Spring term was -for the most part- successful. In addition, it isn’t a Marshall prerequisite course either so… anyone’s guess is as good as ours. Did you take that course to satisfy a GE for USC? I would wait a couple of days for a response to your e-mail, if you don’t get a response after a couple of days, I suggest you notify USC of this because I’m sure they’ll verify your grade card against official transcripts.

Also, when I said “it will be fixed tomorrow morning”, I meant on my side. haha. he isn’t going to change it to an A; I deserved a B. Luckily though, it’s only a 1 unit lab. I’m going to contact USC and notify them.

@stargurl

You’re still waiting for Chapman’s decision? Me too! My status’ still pending for them.

If you get into Chapman, I’d suggest transferring to Chapman first and trying for USC next year! It doesn’t hurt to try!

does usc have the commitment to cali residents like uc? got rejected w/ a 3.88 gpa+ 2 associate degrees as an intl student from wa community college. i have a decent resume for an intl student and got all As for marshall prerequisites:( now I have to spend $340 to apply for opt to be able to stay in the US while waiting for next year’s admission

@joyme328 that is really odd that you were rejected, do you know how many transferable credits you have? Also, not to say you have poor English or any of the sort, but USC admissions REALLY stresses on the essay. When I went to Marshall Transfer Workshop, the admissions counselor in charge of Marshall admissions straight up said they would accept a person with a 3.5 with a stellar essay and flat out reject someone with a 4.0 with the same credits if they cannot write an insightful and grammatically correct essay. How strong do you felt your essay was?

does anyone know when we will hear from USC after we submit our SGR? As if June wasn’t late enough…

I got acted on status this morning but still cannot log in through the backdoor method…this means rejection right?

I think it means you should turn your computer off before you have a nervous break down. It doesn’t mean anything… there were some people who were accepted, but couldn’t access the backdoor method prior to receiving their package. There is always a chance so don’t lose hope!

OK guys so i got the committee acted on status on June 1st and i tried the backdoor method and it said “bad request” however i tried the second link and it took me to a page where I had to log in using my email and password and an enrollment committment deposit form came up with all of my student information. so does this mean im officially accepted???

@socal4 I believe so!

I used the backdoor method this afternoon and I think I got a Spring 2010 admission since it shows 9/1/2010 as the latest enrollemt date. My prob is… I messed up this Spring semester. Something came up in my family and I wasn’t in a good shape. I couldn’t pass 2 of my 3 classes in this semester. All of them are not pre-req classs for my major though. Do you guys think it’s gonna hurt my admission? I am an international student currently studying in a CC. USC mailed the decision back to my home country. So it will take a couple days more for my family to mail it back to me. I got a 3.5ish GPA applied to marshall and econ as second choice. I am really nervous about this. If there’s any condition attached to USC’s offer, it’s very likelly that I would have to stay in the CC for another year.
I was accepted by a couple UC’s too, but all UC’s require min 2.0 GPA in my last regular semester which I appearantly do not have. Since USC prefer we all take as many classes as we can with them, I am hoping that they don’t care about my classes in Spring.

so im on a quarter system and i finish school next week. my transcripts should come out in 2 weeks. if i turn in the transcripts mid june. then how early will USC give me the decision?

i got an sgr.

@madeforusc: did u say that u applied for the film program?
it is funny how we are waiting for USC and it is a reach school and Chapman is like a safety school.
