USC 2010 Transfer Thread

Politricks, according to the USC Housing website you have to be admitted first.

I’m full of questions today:

So I just submitted my deposit online. Do I have to wait for some sort of confirmation/email or can I go ahead and apply for housing now?

@quentin13 nope, i only waited two hours to submit my housing app

@tbibbs what did you e-mail to the counselor that made them update the status?

I got my housing assignment, 5PTRPL at Troy East… and I get the room to myself?? I dunno if I’m going to take it, I factored in a summer session and gateway is only 1000ish more for the whole year. and gateway owns a dorm by a million. Going to check out the place tomorrow, as well as take a tour of campus. shyeahhh.

Oh my god nevermind I just looked at it, it says I’m 3 next to my name, that means I have to share a room with two other people?? HELLLLL no. I’m picking gateway for sure.

Yeah, 5PTRPL means you’re in an apartment with two rooms. Yours has two other people in the room with you which is pretty uncool.

so who’s going to the July 9th orientation?

@ daisydaisy

Yeah, I got shafted on housing assignments too. I got Founders Apts 2B4P. I really don’t want to share a room with someone. How affordable is Gateway compared to $3155 a semester for sharing a room with someone? Does Gateway include internet, cable, or utilities with their rent?

@stargurl

Someone posted this on the Chapman transfer page, "I called today and they said they’re still going through transfer apps and a decision will be made soon. How soon? They wouldn’t say. I was told last week that all decisions would be made by tomorrow, but after calling today…it didn’t sound like that.

So…we’ll have to play the waiting game."

Looks like we’re not the only ones waiting. Meanwhile, I still haven’t received a decision from USC.

Gateway pricing is somewhere in the neighborhood of $1000+ dollars for a shared room.

I hope I’m not jinxing it, but I’m choosing Gateway. The area where Sunset is at is horrible. I lived in LA all my life and the area where it’s at (or near at) is apparently notorious.

The only downside is is that I’ll be living with three more people at Gateway and it costs about $400 more than Sunset. Sunset only involved one roommate.

@foodmunkee I am :)

If we apply for reassignment, do we give up our spot? or if we don’t get what we want, do we get to keep our original assignment?

sirownzalot, Gateway is shared, too. You’ll be in the same 2 bedroom, 4 person situation but in a nicer apartment. If you get the 1030 a month, first month free situation it comes out to 944 a month.

foodmunkee, I am, too.

ilovemtsac, it sounds like they auto-cancel the old assignment in favor of the new one, “If we are able to fulfill your request, you will be notified by e-mail that your reassignment has been completed. This will be your new housing assignment; your previous assignment will be cancelled and offered to another student”. With that said, though, it looks like they’ll only reassign you to a place you request so the auto-change isn’t a big deal. I’m not completely sure on this. The reassignment form is here: [Services & Information - Housing Info/Forms](http://housing.usc.edu/Services/HousingForms.aspx)

sweeeet!!! :smiley: are you guys going to the meet and greet afterwards?

Kind of worried now. My spring grades just came out and I got a C in one of my classes. Although my acceptance letter doesn’t have a certain gpa that I would need to maintain, would USC rescind the acceptance? It was a spanish class if that matters.

Status just changed to “The Committee Has Acted…”

“Committee is Reviewing…” on 6/2 and “Committee Has Acted…” on 6/4.

fivefoottree,

some people have a conditional gpa of 3.3 , so I think as long as your GPA is higher than that you are fine.

@stargurl93 I presented my portfolio for the Stage Management BFA program.

Gateway is actually $899 a month now :)
