@Everyone who does not see your status, it is a technical glitch in their system and should be fixed by tomorrow per an admissions rep I spoke to directly earlier today.

Hey all! My son got into Marshall and is planning on attending because he got a really good financial package. He was going to go to NYU Stern until he received his financial package from USC. He is going to major in accounting and finance. Is he doing the right thing? I feel awful that because of money he has changed his mind. He is only receiving 9k at Stern and at Marshall he’s getting 31k. What would you do?

jrmom84 - Your son can not go wrong with either schools. The USC Leventhal School of Accounting has been consistently ranked in the top 5 as having best accounting program in the nation. The USC Marshall School of Business is the 2nd best business school in California, falling behind only to UC Berkeley. The difference between USC and NYU, or any other school for that matter, is this: your son will be entering, not just into a school, but into a “family”, with over 300,000+ alumni scattered throughout the globe, some of which are top executives for very well recognized firms, which is what makes USC’s networking so legendary. (i.e. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s daughter currently goes there).

USC also hosts what is called the Marshall Case Competition, which includes some of the best business schools from around the world. They work with real firms to solve real problems. The school with the best solution wins, and in some cases, their solutions are actually implemented by these firms to solve their problem(s). Definitely not just classroom lectures and exams. Sounds like an ideal learning standard to me.

@budlightyear Thanks for all your insight! We are not too familiar with USC. I am sure this will help.

hi everyone, sorry this is a dumb question, but how is everyone seeing their “status” I don’t see mine anywhere, is it on the usc connect site??

They still haven’t fixed their system so when you login right now you don’t see the section on the bottom where it usually shows your status. They are in the process of fixing this though so don’t worry.

ok cool thanks! also, I just asked my school to fax over my spring grades for my sgr on monday (they were finalized on saturday), how long does it take for USC to process them? anybody know??? I’m scared they’re not going to process them by the deadline.

Haven’t been on here for a while… but I’m still in the waiting game =/ I received a SGR and sent my grades in earlier this week. I contacted my admission counselor because there was an error with my status for the longest time… it said they had received my spring grades and my app was forwarded for review – at a time before I had even sent them my grades. After letting my counselor know, my status was cleared and I got that system error other people seem to be having.

He let me e-mail him my spring grades directly though to expedite the process. All I can do is wait now! I’m applying to Marshall btw.

got my acceptance package today! couldn’t be happier! but all the info in the package states that i’m an incoming freshman? kinda weird gona give admissions a call

@ xxpendable: How long ago did you submit your SGR, if you got one that is?

For those of you who received an SGR and submitted it and then received an acceptance package, how long was the wait once the SGR was submitted? Also, did you guys complete all of your GEN ED requirements?

I submitted my spring grades on 06/15, status changed to “forwarded to committee for review” on 06/16, and changed to “decision acted on, usc have mailed decision…” on 06/17, and I received the acceptance package on 06/18. So basically 3 days…
Regarding the status update, I think it depends on who your transfer admission counselor is. Some may do it faster than the other…?

Anyway, good luck to all other SGRs!

I submitted mine on Monday (I had a late running semester and grades took a while to be posted). At this point I maintained a 4.0 however two of the sections for the gen. ed. are uncompleted: i still have to take a lab for a science course and taking a sociology class in the summer. I just feel i submitted mu grades so late in the game that I’ve no chance, and if I do get accepted, that my fin aid package will SUCK. Applied as an English Major, emphasis in Creative Writing.

xxpendable, transfer credit evaluations aren’t usually done when you’re admitted. That’s probably why you’re listed as a freshman.

johnUSC310, if you submitted your financial aid stuff on time then theoretically there should be no effect on your package. Theoretically there’s also no effect on your acceptance chance versus other SGR applicants if you submit your grades later but on time.

jrmom84, they’re both regarded as top schools. They’re very different experiences, I’d say, though. NYC has a feel of its own, as does LA. He’ll probably want to consider that. Either way, your son is well off. Congratulations.

My transfer credit report updated and is now up to 41 units from 17 which is not bad. I just sent in my final transcript so I’ll be waiting for them to update that into it and hopefully add on some more units.

@Quentin13 do you mind telling me where you sent your transcripts to? I still need to send a couple in and since we’re accepted, I don’t know if we still send it to the office of admissions or somewhere else? Thanks in advance.

@xdzzzrawr - Yeah send it into admissions and they’ll place it into your file. Once it is processed in then your academic advisor can see it and they’ll transfer the credits in that you need.

Finally submitting my SGR tomorrow, feels like I’ve been waiting for my grades since forever.

Is it just me, or is the status system still not fixed?
