johnUSC310 - my estimated cost is around 55,000. I dont know why we have different number, isn’t it supposed to be the same?

@itsyouitsme- where did you see this numnber. I think these numbers are specific to students because I do not have housing plans and if I did I’m sure that difference would put me in the $55,000 range as well. Do you have housing or at least plan to have housing for the year?

@john same with itsyouitsme, my COA is around $55,000.

edit
Oh so you’re living with your parents/relatives? Then yeah, that might be the explanation as to why your COA is much lower than ours.

after receiving an award what’s the next step?

I’m still trying to figure that out as well. For the federal loans, you have to sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN) with your PIN on http://studentloans.gov

Have you gotten an email yet from USC about this? I got their email about the MPN about 3 days ago and signed it right away. Just last night I got an email that my request for loans have been approved.

@JohnUSC310, at the end of the letter they put the total cost of attendance and the total aid + loan they are going to give. the total cost - total aid = your family expected contribution.

@hellostranger57 same here. :)

My EFC is $0. Do you guys the COA is a failry accurate estimation because I could do without loans for this year if I use an outside schoalrship for $6,000. The loans would be $10,000, and I’m hoping $6,000 can compensate.

Is the COA that actual cost of attendance?

@oliviaranran - My status got forwarded on Monday, acted on Wednesday morning, and I received my package that same day, Wednesday afternoon. Backdoor worked for me on Tuesday I believe, but backdoor doesn’t work for everyone, so don’t rely on it. Good Luck!

is anyone taking guests/parents to the orientation on the 23rd??

Nope. It’s going to cost me more money if I bring guests/parents. Lol

I’m rolling solo to the 23rd as well.

Anybody going to tomorrow’s orientation?

@cestlavie00: I believe there are a few people going tomorrow. You might want to try asking on the facebook group too since some people haven’t been checking back into this thread after being accepted.

@ cestlavie00:

i’m going to tomorrow’s orientation!

Would anyone going to the 23rd orientation be willing to sponsor me as a guest? I’ll pay for it and treat us all to dinner or something =)

My official one won’t be until January 4, then spring semester begins on the 10th.

@hellostranger57:

In regards to the email to sign the MPN how long after receiving your award did you receive it because I got my award today and i’d like to know how long i should expect to wait. I got my award but now i’m like NOW WHAT? I don’t know how to go about receiving the award and applying it to by balance (and when is a balance going to show?) that’s missing too.

@john I havent received any funds yet. I think we will be notified by August (mid August?) about our funds. I read from the other thread that loans are posted about a week before school (just in time for the enrollment payment deadlines).

I just got the letter few minutes ago…it’s spring admission…What should I do…? Any suggestion? Thank you guys

@johnUSC310
Cool, what major are you?

Try signing into this link:

<a href=“Federal Student Aid”>Federal Student Aid;

and click on the “Sign In” under Manage My Direct Loan. That should speed up the process of having your loans applied to the balance.
