USC 2010 Transfer Thread

I’m not sure. I didn’t see anyone get their picture taken but maybe you can visit the actual building and have them do it. I think that there’s some processing time, though. They email you if your card is ready on time. It only took a day for me. If you don’t have a blue wall or something, use a towel, construction paper or even a TV with the brightness turned down.

Hey guys, anyone looking for a roommate? Shoot me a pm… (SC junior here).

I transferred last year and followed the '09 thread religiously, so I know how tense it gets. Good luck guys!

Thanks guys and gals!!!

Man, orientation sounds exhausting. haha.

If anyone is in a bind and can’t do a proper photo, take one of yourself against a white wall or some blank single tone surface(most apartment/house walls) and I’ll photoshop out the background and add the preferred light blue background in place of it. Try to make sure there is decent lighting so the photo turns out decent :)

@rawrgasm - Uhh I think it might be well past the time when you should still be seeing that status message. How long ago did you turn in your official spring grades? You should call admissions and find out what’s up.

You are supposed to have official transcripts sent in also but I dunno if that holds it up. Call first thing tomorrow morning to clarify.

Status says “We have received the spring grades blahblahblah”
please don’t tell me im the only one who waiting ><…

@brobee-mine has been like that for over a month now, but when i emailed my counselor she told me that my application had been fully reviewed…and i tried the backdoor and it worked so i made the commitment deposit…

so either u can email your counselor or try the backdoor method if u wana know whats really going on :)

One of the biggest reasons why I wanted Marshall so bad:
[YouTube - Marshall International Case Competition 2009](Marshall International Case Competition 2009 - YouTube)

As real as it gets!

^thanks! tried the backdoor method and it asked for my username and password. tried to log in and it didn’t work :frowning:
i read the last few pages and it seems like a wave of people got a reponse this week! i feel like they’re prolonging my possible rejection :(

Hey guys is Gateway really worth the price tag? I mean, the least is $899 PER PERSON. Then if you want on-site parking, that’s an additional $150. Which accumlates to about $1049. Is all of that worth it when you’re sharing your room with three other people? With rent like that, you might as well just find a studio apartment, which sounds more
reasonable.

I’m just wondering if anyone, especially current and future residences, can give me insight on why Gateway seems like such a popular housing choice. What are the perks, why is it worth the price, what does Gateway have, is it worth the price, etc.

@Brobee. its ok. i feel ya. ive been trying the backdoor method everyday since this week. my status is still " We received your spring grades…" its been taking awhile…its gonna suck when i get my rejection letter.

@Nothingelse -

1.) Convenience, as it is right across from NE corner of campus where EVK, Trojan Grounds, and Leavey Library are. It is also 2 blocks south of the row if you’re gonna rush.
2.)Parking is 150, or you can try for a on campus parking pass which is cheaper as it is literally across the street from one of the student parking garages which runs $400/semester.
3.)At least a dozen or more of us transfers from CC have signed there so it’ll be easier to socialize and meet new people.
4.)Decent selection of retail going in underneath including a 24 hour CVS.
5.)Solid concrete construction so the units should be pretty sound proof which is good for a student building.
6. Everything else you can see on the website(gym, study rooms etc.)

@budlightyear Would you tell me how long it took your decision from “forwarded” to “decision mailed”? My status changed to “forwarded” 2 days ago and it shows “decision mailed” today, but the problem is backdoor method doesn’t work for me…get my finger crossed now!!!

@Oliviaranran - The backdoor doesn’t necessarily always work right away, even for those accepted. Sometimes it takes up to 7 days for people to be able to log in and submit a deposit when they are admitted.

@kulakai wow i didnt know Gateway is having CVS!!! Really???

@Kulakai Good to know that, thanks…I am feeling much better now.

@hellostranger57 - Yup. I walked around downstairs to look at the work being done on retail spaces and a couple of the units are huge. If the CVS is smart, they’ll have an entire section of beer on sale all the time haha.

@kulakai that sounds awesome! thank goodness i’m turning 21 right after school starts hahaha

for those of you who received financial aid what was your estimated costs? I’m wondering if its a universal amount or specific to the needs of each student because if its universal with housing included I’m in a pretty good situation. HERE IS MY AWARD:

GRANTS/WORKSTUDY:
Federal Workstudy: $2,750
Estimated Federal Pell Grant: $5,550
University Grant: $26,058
Federal SEOG: $1,000

TOTAL: $35,408 (around there). They gave me a bunch of loans too but if I’m able to just cover tuition than I won’t have to take any of those.

So again what was everyone’s estimated cost? Mine was $46,208 but I don’t know if that’s with room included in which case I should be okay.
