USC 2010 Transfer Thread

sorry, for the crappy spelling, a little tipsy

@xdzzzrawr You have point in that the previous school I attended did not allow me to receive the same amount as USC. Awhile back I went to school change on the cal grant website and removed my old school and replaced it with USC. I dont know if there is anything else I have to do other than that.

@ xdzzzrawr: I received a phone call from someone named Christina, but I couldn’t get a hold of her. The voicemail she left me sounded enthusiastic and I’m hoping for the best but for all I know she could have been putting on a happy voice to make the rejection less painful…however I do know someone named Christina is the head of NTSAF and I doubt she would be a part of the rejection calls…(like they usually make lower level employees do that kind of thing…or from my experience anyway). GOOD LUCK TO YOU! Did you get a call?

@johnUSC310 no I didn’t get a call :[, nor have I received an e-mail. Ugh… I worked pretty dang hard on my autobiographical essay ahhh good luck to you though.

Hey everyone:)

Does anyone need a roommate (female) for Fall 2010? I will be living in University Gateway. PM me if you are interested!

@wrightusc - There are a ton of us who are gonna live at gateway so I imagine you can find another girl to be your roommate. Worst case scenario, you’ll have a bunch of CC friends down the hall to visit if your randomly assigned roomie drives you crazy

@striker15 I had similar concerns regarding Cal Grant aid. I spoke to two different USC financial aid reps who told me that every few weeks the State sends them a list of students who qualify for Cal Grant. Your aid will be added to your package once they’ve reviewed the data. They also told me not to worry about it because USC will simply subtract the 9K Cal Grant from your University Grant- dollar for dollar. So in essence, your package will not change because both forms of grant money are appropriated to cover your tuition. Cal Grants are more beneficial in saving the University money in this case, not the student.

hey guyss>>>where do we take the placement tests online?

and also,
if i took spanish 2 at my cc…do i need to take the placement to get into a level 3 course at SC?

@USC10 - You do the placement during the pre-orientation homework however I don’t believe transfers do the foreign language test online. You gotta do it in person. Someone correct me if I’m wrong on that.

im at the pre-orientation homework steps website, but its just listing what i need to do…i sound really dumb right now but i still dont know what to click on to take the test -_-

Kula’s right. Transfers need to take the test in person if their school has a language requirement.

@USC10 - Yeah, exactly, there is no where to click since transfers take it in person as necessary.

oo okayy  so same with the math requirement…cause my major isn’t listed

Step 10: Complete the New Student Survey
Step 11: Complete the New Student Interest Profile
Step 12: Complete the Lyon Recreational Sport Center liability waiver

how about thesee?

Those take like a minute each literally. They just survey you on what you’re interested so they can more easily connect you with clubs/sports and the liability waiver is for your use of the gym.

its not giving me links to them…wow i feel so lost for no reason lol

@krysty Unfortunately I didn’t receive any universty grant this year so the cal grant in my case will help a bit. Other than that thanks for your info and hopefully I get a university grant next year just like you so I won’t have to worry.

Also, good luck to those going to the T3 orientation because finding classes that are open and fit in your schedule is very difficult. I had to come home and look diligently for a 4th class that would fit in my schedule and fulfill a GE.

the orientation website is getting on my nervesss!! it wont let me take anythingg

@seegeewhy

I completed everything before the deadlines. I was accepted on 6/24, they asked for additional documents, and then I got the award the morning of orientation. Gonna call and ask why I got so little and appeal it.

On another note, I’ll add you and beau on facebook later tonight. Or you can add me, <a href=“Facebook - log in or sign up”>Facebook - log in or sign up. I still need housing lol… And no, I won’t be jumping on the Gateway train unfortunately. 900 dollars is a little too much for my budget.
