USC 2010 Transfer Thread

Good question, jtse19. I have the same concerns about the proximity/cheapness of grocery stores to my apartment, especially since I don’t have a car.
jtse19, do you know how close the farmers market is to campus?

@jtse19/phloser - Where are you two living off-campus? This is what I’ve found nearby:

Not so great Ralph’s grocery at Jefferson&Adams

Brand new completely awesome Ralph’s downtown is at Flower&9th. You can catch the Dash bus F line which costs 25 cents and runs from 6:30am-6:30pm from just about anywhere around the USC campus perimeter which will take you downtown to where it is.

Smart & Final on Vermont to the west of campus but this is place isn’t catered towards individual shoppers(bulk).

USC farmers market on tuesdays 11am-7pm at Jefferson & Hoover? I am not sure if it runs year round so you’ll have to do some googling to find more info.

Superior Grocers - Independent super market in University Village just north of campus. I’m not sure what it is like but probably better than the nearby Ralph’s.

Hey guys!
I’m transferring in this year. However, I need to find a roommate in order to get housing.
Even if you weren’t offered any housing yet. Let me know, because I can help.

Hope to hear from you soon.

I randomly remembered that I said I would post about this. I doubt anyone was waiting on the edge of their seat but here it goes anyway. I went from the Evo to the iPhone 4. The Evo was way too big for me. Love me some slim form factor. Maybe it’s just from using high resolution screens all the time, but the pixel density is definitely noticeable for me, too. With the antenna, I use a translucent case anyway so it’s not relevant. Plus, Plants vs. Zombies, [YouTube - Plants vs Zombies Music Video](<a href=“Plants vs Zombies Music Video - YouTube”>Plants vs Zombies Music Video - YouTube).

Hey, thanks for the info Kulakai. I’ll be living at Century. I just found quite a few grocery stores on S. Vermont Ave, so getting fresh food shouldn’t be a problem.

@serapher - did you trade your evo in? I’m holding onto my hero until the next gen android devices.

@phloser - You should be ok. The older ralph’s, smart & final, and superior grocers are all within a short walk of there :)

I was new to Sprint so I was covered with their 30 day return policy. I just took it back to Best Buy and got all my money back. Sprint refunded the service fees, too. Free month, wooh!

hey guys , im interning at this denim co , fan our page! we will be giving away freebies
(shirts , jeans , more!)

for anyone that applied to the Norman Topping scholarship…has anyone received any post-interview news? I havent!!!

lol actually I am still looking for housing. I understand a lot of CC USC transfers are living at gateway, but I feel like it is out of my budget. Besides that for groceries I have been contemplating of just going to costcos and buy in bulk. After all, all I eat is chicken breast, brown rice, peanut butter, eggs, fruits, veggies, and whole grain bread.

@johnusc310- I received a phone call today. Have you tried calling?

Superior market is horrible. That would be my last option.

@dc830801: what was the news you received? Did you get the award? I’m so bummed I haven’t received a call!

@johnUSC310-
Yeah, I got the award, which was a big surprise because I was expecting to receive notification today(friday) because that is what I was told once the interview was over.
What day did they say they were going to notify you?
If it was friday, then there is still hope!

If you don’t here anything by like 4pm today, give them a call! Do you have their number?

@dc830801: They told me friday as well. I guess I didn’t luck out this time. Bummer. Too bad. Around what time did you get the call?

You still have today to see if you actually do end up receiving the award. Don’t lose hope yet though! I got the call around 1:50pm.

@dc830801: i know there’s still a glimmer of hope but somehow I feel that if they called you yesterday they finished making their calls.

I went in to renew my military ID (dependent) today and the lady working there had a wedding day picture at USC. Go, go USC.

So i was at University Gateway earlier, dropped off my check and got my keys. I checked out my
apartment unit and…it seems like our ceilings are unfinished  it certainly doesnt look like the ceilings in the model unit.

I asked them about it and they said that it’s made of concrete and that the unfinished look is “meant to be that way.” ***? Idk how i feel about this…

hellostranger - I would ask them to show you some of the other units to see if it is in fact “meant to be that way”, unless you can look past the inside-a-cave-look. Compared to the model unit, that is borderline lying to your customer. From what I’ve read so far of University Gateway, it seems that they do not provide much customer service/support, hoping that the aesthetics will sell itself and “wow” the prospective tenant to sign.
