Ya’ll just need to hang out with me more. I bumped into literally everyone today :)

@unknownpleasures - was I wearing a red polo shirt and grey shorts at the TIS table? You should have said hi!

Putting this out there for any late transfer students who are in need of housing:

My roommate and I are renting out a room for $750 in our two-bedroom apartment on Ellendale Place. The living room is fully furnished including a flat screen HDTV. The apartment has a pool and laundry facilities, as well as an elevator.

We are located just five minutes walking distance from campus, supermarkets, and restaurants. There is a USC bus stop directly outside the complex.

For more information or to request a tour of the place, call Chris at (626) 400-9396.

Thanks!

What’re the avg gpa’s looking like this year, for the students who transferred from CC into the Marshall School of Business?

Hey I’m a Spring '11 admit but I was wondering when the transfer credit report was going to be available. Also, does anyone know when I get to register for classes? Thanks (:

@snizzle77 I am fairly certain the average GPA for Marshall from CC is probably around 3.80-3.85, which follows the general trend of acceptance of Marshall acceptances from across the nation/world. There are those who’ve received 3.6s, 3.7s or even lower and have been accepted as well.

It all really depends on many factors such as your essay, short answer questions, any letter of recs, and number of units transferable, however if you really want to be competitive, the GPA is indeed the largest contributing factor in getting in.

There are those who have applied with a strong GPA such as 3.9s/4.0s with 30+ units and have been rejected from Marshall for whatever reason such as inadequate short answer responses or even a poorly written essay. So there are many things to consider when analyzing acceptance GPAs.

@xdzzzrawr: Appreciate you answering my Q. Spoke to my counselor yesterday, and he told me USC places a higher priority on extra currics/essay/letters of rec, than other schools I was looking into (UC B, LA). He said the avg. gpa of transfers these past two years from my CCC has been around a 3.6, but seen some as low as 3.4 and some 4.0’s rejected (as you said). On our transfer articulation agreement from my CC, it says that a 3.6 is a competitive gpa to get into the Marshall School of Business??

Will have a 3.4 when applying, but my counselor told me to give it a shot and hopefully my work experience/internships will help a bit. If I don’t get accepted, I will certainly be back, applying next year with a much stronger gpa! :)

I heart USC.

Did you guys apply after 1 year or after 2 years?

Hi everyone,

I’m a prospective students for many school in CA. I’m currently at CCSF but I’m looking to transfer to the best school I can in Fall 11. I will have certainly 35 to 40 credits at CCSF before transferring (I have something like 45 credits from another college, I transferred to CCSF in Spring 10).

So here is a quick presentation:

I’m an international student from France, 21yo, junior.
My current GPA is 3.0 but I plan to get it up to 3.6 (at least) in Spring 11. I’m a Business major, and member of the honors society. My TOEFL score was 80, it was three years ago. I’m speaking french, english, spanish. I first arrived in the US in 2007 (I was 18) by myself. I then transferred to CCSF by myself, again. I’ve been traveling a lot in Europe and Americas. I plan to take 1 year and a half to visit and work in Asia/Oceania right after my graduation (Sydney, Tokyo, Hong Kong). Anyway, I’ve been member of the soccer team of my previous university, and I’m playing soccer in a 1st amateur division in San Francisco. I’ve been designing websites, writing for blogs, asking to be a translator in some websites.
I’m the co-founder of a society which is registered in France and I’m planning to get professional projects and some collaborations done within the year, I worked 2 months in London in Fall 2009, and I worked in wineries in Bordeaux, France, my hometown during summer. I did a 3 weeks internship in 2006 (I was 16) in New York City in a design firm. I will work this Fall 10 in my university, and I’ll try to get something more exciting in Spring 11 (I’ll finally be allowed to work outside my university).

Any chances? Assume I’m highly motivated and assume that my essay/short answers would be great, haha. I’m short on the GPA right now, but I only spent one semester here, so I’m working on straight As for the next two semesters.

snizzle77, there might be some degree of preference given to CCC students simply as a courtesy to California. The best thing is always to get the maximum GPA possible and make back up plans, as well. 3.6 is, at the least, reasonable.

redart, different people have done different things. Most community college people probably do 2 years. That’s kind of a national trend. Just my guess, though. I personally did one but I came from a four year with an above average high school record.

victorbd, I would definitely go for that 3.6. It’ll help a great deal. I can’t really chance you, especially for Marshall. I do think that being well traveled and international will help you, though.

Hey transfers! any spring admit girls looking for USC housing apartment?!

For my entire life I have always wanted to go to USC. I applied during high school but didn’t get in. I decided to go to the University of Oregon. I am technically a freshman but will be a sophomore by the spring. I feel I have become more competitive since coming to the University of Oregon and would like to see if I could transfer to USC, but I don’t know. Here is my resume of sort since college, do I stand a chance?

University of Oregon GPA: 3.6 (struggled a little my first term of college)
Finished all my pre journalism courses
Member of the “Warsaw Sports Business Club”
Started the “Standing Strong Foundation” a foundation aimed to help families of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) patients.

I am a Native of Berkeley, California.

Am I competitive for USC?
Thanks

lucky 17 -I think you’ll get more feedback if you post in the 2011 transfer thread. The 2010 transfer thread is pretty much dead.

As a transfer student myself, I’d say a 3.6 GPA is solid. It also depends on your coursework as well. Make sure you work hard on perfecting your essay. Good luck!

Hi all, I was wondering if applying without a High School Diploma hurts my chances. I am currently in a community college with 45 units as of now. I will appreciate your responses and suggestions. Thank you

Hi everyone, hopefully someone can help me out.

Do we need to have ALL the pre-reqs done before applying? It wasn’t very clear on the website

thanks

So I go to Texas Christian University, I’ll have 78 credits by the end of this semester, a cumulative gpa of 3.430, I’m involved in our gymnastics team and our crew club, and I’m only a freshman (but due to my amount of credits, I will be applying as a junior transfer). Can someone please tell me what the chances of getting into their school for Political Science would be? I’m hoping that the fact that I am attending a school such as TCU will help me. PLEASE let me know. :)

Hey. I wrote my common app essay solely about USC (since it is the only place I applied to). But I here we weren’t supposed to do that for the common app essays. Did anyone do the same thing that I did but still get accepted? Does it matter?

Thanks
