haha, wow guys… anyway. I just really wanted to live on campus! I feel like it would be so much easier, plus I’ve never lived in a dorm before. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that housing won’t all be gone… but then again who knows?? I just don’t understand how it could be mostly gone when they haven’t even finished accepting freshman for next year. Aren’t freshman guaranteed housing anyway?? I’m probably worrying about this too much.

How are you guys looking up places to live nearby, by the way, craigslist or something? I was thinking of taking a day in the near future and check out some housing in the area, although for all the times I’ve been at or near USC the surrounding area isn’t really someplace I want to live on my own.

My brother goes to UCLA and keeps offering me the extra room that nobody is renting in the house he lives in. I just feel like that would be so sacrilegious… plus I hate UCLA and its stupid campus.

Honestly, if you don’t mind the commute (which may be brutal if you like 8am classes), the area around UCLA is really nice and you’d be close to the beach.

@daisydaisy WRT freshman, that is true. They set aside a block of rooms for freshman based on the anticipated number of freshman wanting housing (which is probably relatively accurate) plus a little safety room. So all housing isn’t nearly fullness, but most non-freshman reserved housing is nearing capacity.

And i heard that craiglist is a good place, a good friend of mine found an awesome apartment at SC on craiglist.

@iloverome: You go to the U of A?!? Me too!! haha. I’m a freshman living on campus, but I’m from Orange County and I got the sense that you might be as well. I thought I was definitely the only Wildcat on here lol. What are you looking to transfer into at USC?

If you all want, I’ll start a “discussion” post on the cc transfer facebook group ( [Welcome to Facebook | Facebook](<a href=“Facebook - log in or sign up”>Facebook - log in or sign up) ) and post all of the housing options I’ve looked up so far using craigslist. It might be a good idea to create a list of housing options we can easily reference later on when it gets hard to search through this 100+ page thread.

"If you are getting Cal Grant at X, then all you need to do is go to “School Change and LOA” and change it to USC. (After you’ve been accepted and Cal Grant decisions are out , most likely in June or so…)

You don’t need to verify GPA since you are renewing your Cal Grant.

I attended a UC for one quarter and then left for CC.
My status has this:
“Grade Point Average (GPA) Verification - Not required for renewal students”"

@zonazoo10. Yeah I am a freshman and live in the dorms. Im looking to major in political science but I also want to start film. but yeah I am from Orange County too! Why are you looking to transfer?

Oh yeah, I’m living in Pima Dorm. Well, I’m a pre-business major here in Arizona, but I really want to major in Public Relations, and USC’s Annenberg School for Communications is the place to be for that. Also, my mom went to USC, so it really has been my dream since I was little. Orange County to Tucson was definitely a HUGE change!! haha. But I do like it out here. A culture shock for sure, but Tucson is a fun place to be!!

@zonazoo10 - im not but for anyone who doesnt know what a scion is…aside from the ****ty car company, a SCion is a child of a USC alumni, am i right?

First week of the spring semester and already I’m anxious for it to be over, so we can get to get our admission notifications! This is not a good sign. I’m way too obsessively refreshing status pages…

@Dainese- Yeah, that’s right, anyone who is a legacy; I guess that’s what they call it.

@tibibbs- Oh wow, that’s a lot. Yeah, my mom went to USC. I didn’t apply for any scholarships, but I had a meeting with one of the admissions counselors in the summer, did you? She basically laid out for me what I have to do–she almost made it sound too easy!! haha

@zona - yeah i met with an admission counselor and it was ironic because it was the same person that came to my high school, which was awesome. she is super nice and has made the process very easy. did they just tell you get a 3.6 and you will be accepted with “a high degree of confidence” stated on that one paper you signed?

hmmmm…you guys think it should be necessary for me to buy a car if I live in an apartment near USC? I live in OC btw, so I think I may be driving down back to my house every other weekend, or my parents might be picking me up. But would it kinda inhibit me from exploring LA if I don’t have a car? I’m planning on getting a GTI too :D

@foodmunkee : I will be moving back to OC too and if you don’t have a car you can take the metro. the school has transportation from the station to school. if you live in LA you NEED a car!

@foodmunkee - nope. not necessary. does it help? yes.
make friends and have them take u around, just be kind about it and chip in for gas
or pay for their meal etc.

where would u drive alone anyway?
im sure a roommate will have a car for groceries and late night munchies.

all comes down to convenience vs inconvenience
