@hellostranger57 - Well the following message is what I received to my e-mail once I had submitted my FAFSA:

" Congratulations, KEVIN! Your FAFSA on the Web Application was successfully submitted to Federal Student Aid.You can check your status, or make corrections or updates to a processed FAFSA at [FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid](http://www.fafsa.gov). "

Then, when my FAFSA was sent out, I received another e-mail with the following:

“Your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) has been processed and the data will be made available to the school(s) listed on your FAFSA. The financial aid office at your school will contact you if additional information is required.”

So this made me relieved that all my FAFSA was sent… so if you still have these e-mails, then you should be good to go, so yea you said it said it was processed, so this should mean USC should have it in their possession. Just call them and ask if they have it on file, like i did, and if you have these e-mails still in your inbox, you can prove to USC that you did indeed send them and if they don’t have it, it’s a problem within USC’s financial aid system, so call them and then you can be more reassured!

hey guys. I have a C in my Rel 101 class… and I am thinking of dropping it because I simply can’t see a C on my transcript…

I know USC doesn’t want to see a withdrawal on my transcript, but do you think that would be better than having a C? We only have one more test left in that class and even if I get a 100 on it, I can’t get a B.

This class is really stressing me out and I really don’t know what to do…
What do you guys think I should do? Get a C or drop it and have a W on my transcript?

oh and my religion 101 class falls into one of those GE categories…
doesn’t USC expect you to take a lot of GE classes before the enrollment?
I decided to take rel 101 because I thought it would give me an advantage for taking one of their GE classes… I guess I failed…

Man, after reading the last page, I’m relieved I haven’t received any emails from the USC Fin. Aid office except for those in response to my questions.

does anybody know if a W plays an important role in decision making? and does USC prefer a C than W? What if I retake the course which I got a W in, and I got an A?

@susanlmn - W = F to USC. However, think of a W as a little stain on a white T shirt. NOT GONNA KILL YOU, but it is noticeable. I would personally prefer a W over a C, because with a W, atleast you could justify a reason if you have one. Which i hope you do. If you retook the course and got an A, then you would still have a W. I dont think USC cares for 2nd tries.

^not too sure, but i wouldn’t get my hopes up if i were you. even for in-state transfers, the only thing that’s really available for us is the transfer merit scholarship. no one really knows how much that will give us.

A transfer admission counselor disagrees with this W = F philosophy.

More than 1 W per year portrays the student in a negative light. 1 W per year or less just does not matter at all to the admissions officers. Period.

^ Like “thelongshot” said, USC admissions counselors do not see it that way. I don’t know why some people on here keep saying “W=F”, unless they personally know someone in the USC admissions office who told them that, they probably don’t have much evidence to back that up and are just making arbitrary assumptions. Don’t be stressed about the W, it will most certainly not make you or break you.
