USC 2011 Transfer Thread

I have absolutely no confidence now when it comes to applying to schools. When I was coming out of High School I applied to Cornell, Columbia, SUNY Geneseo and my safe Clarkson U. I was hoping to get into one of the three non-safes…I only got wait-listed at Geneseo. I was already decided on transferring before I even set foot on campus.

If I was to not get into any of the schools this time around…God, I’d go crazy.

Oh, and if anyone cares they finally responded to my email about adding my language requirement. Made me feel ok I guess but my status is still “We have received your app…” and I’m starting to get worried.

@MDG099:

Don’t even worry about it much! USC is so diverse. Agestyxracer said it best. And I don’t know about you, but I personally work better when I am around people who are better than me. It sounds so corny to say, but it really makes me challenge myself and push to be better, sometimes just from the pressure to not embarrass myself! I think we all feel a little intimidated after seeing the past few years’ admits, but don’t sweat it :wink: everyone has felt that way and once you’re accepted and grow into it, you’ll become stronger as a person.

I think we all doubt if we will be good enough for USC. To at least some extent I think we have at one point, I know I did. Now I feel like I AM going to go to USC. I know that’s a little cocky and all, but I believe I have everything it takes.

It’s funny, because I am generally a very negative person. I’ve been thinking so positive with USC. I always say “WHEN I go to USC…” not “IF I go to USC”. My mom, who always complains about my negativity, is starting to complain about my positive thinking. I can’t win with this woman.

@sydneyral dude. My mom is like that. I don’t study, she asks why I always go out and not study. I study, she goes “why do you study so much?” lol parental schema.

hey guys to relieve the stress from waiting kick back and listen to The Smiles, a band composed of college students from USC. They are really good.

free album:

[Hermosa - EP | The Smiles](Hermosa - EP | The Miracals)

support and buy if you like

@sydney:

:) exactly. It’s not being cocky, it’s positive thinking. The only way you’re going to get what you want is if you know what you want, work for it, and know it will happen. If you doubt yourself, you lost the game before it even started. That book “The Secret” is pretty interesting!

I was really confident as I finished my app, but now that its out of my hands completely I’m freaking out haha. Like I can’t really remember ever wanting something this badly

totally agree with deltron.
and now that school’s on spring break, i cant stop myself from thinking of applications!!! ahh haha oh well.

@everyone
I think the best thing to do is just wait, and i know that is easier said than done but just keep in mind the good stuff that will begin to happen soon. How we will be able to go and buy and put on that USC sweater, hat, gear etc. or how we will be able to read every word for word on the nice white folder acceptance package, and we will soon be able to walk through USC and say “I go to school here” that is how we can get through waiting. Just like they say Good Things Come To Those Who Wait!

What’s up guys and girls?

I just emailed my admission counselor a question I had about the Math requirement for transferring.

Here it is pasted from my email:

I am a current college student in pursuit of transferring to the University of Southern California. Business Administration is my major of choice and I have been closely following of the requirements for transfer.

I do have one question.

"My question relates to the Mathematics requirement found on the Transfer Planning Worksheet. It says, “You are expected to have earned strong grades in at least three years of high school mathematics, including Advanced Algebra (Algebra II), or Intermediate Algebra at the college level.”

In high school I did not earn strong grades, primarily and regrettably because I lacked motivation at the time. Now, extremely motivated to enter the work force as a Trojan graduate, I am currently excelling in higher-level math. I plan on taking the Math 118 equivalent next semester.

Do I have to retake Algebra II even though I’m taking much more difficult math courses and doing very well in them?"

I know the counselors are very busy so I have no clue how long they will take to respond. I was hoping someone here could give me a quicker reply.

And btw I’m applying next year not this year but good luck to all the '11 hopefuls!

Hey guys!

Thanks for all the positive feedback! I’m trying to stay as positive as possible. The USC tour was great, and I also did my audition for CSUN that went fairly well. I think I will know the outcome of admission for CSUN (the Music Industry Program) in 4 weeks. Hopefully I will know if I have been admitted into USC by then as well. Thanks again for all the positive feedback everyone and GOODLUCK!

JDSFTW: For Business Ad, you need to take either one semester of Calculus (25A?) or two semester of Business Calculus.

@stingray

Yeah I plan on taking that next semester over summer.

The thing is that in high school I only completed one semester of algebra II due to personal problems. I got a B in that one semester.

My question is will they deny me on the basis that I haven’t fulfilled a full year of algebra II even though I’m in much higher level math?

Thanks for your help

Has anyone else got a status update yet?

Mine still says “We have received your application and it appears we require no additional information…”

Mine’s the same MDG099. Why won’t they just tell me if I’m in or not…stupid freshman applicants…

Mine still says I’m missing stuff that I’m not missing. :(

And my financial aid documents say I’m missing stuff I faxed in… ughh, I’m going to call today. I know it’s probably nothing and that it takes a while for everything to update, but it’s really worrying me. Especially because I sent my transcript in months ago…

I’m in the same boat as dream I submitted all my documents for admission and it still says that I am missing things is it bad that it hasnt changed yet or does it really not matter yet, and I’m going to call as well and ask if they have everything and if they do why does my status still say I’m missing things.

@MDG099
My status says they are reviewing my app already

I just received an offer for a co-op job at one of the biggest energy companies in MA. Hopefully, actual experience in the field will help my app haha.
