Cornelito, many users have reported that calling in to ask about that status will get it changed to the freshmen status. I previously had the same message before calling and had it changed promptly after.

Hi everyone! first time posting on this site.
I was just wondering…how much does being a child of USC faculty member help me in the admission process?

@bangkok

I know! I really want to know if any first choice SPPD majors have any updates!

@Laxlove … yes i’m undeclared and i got a status change on April 1st. but don’t stress about it. i think they’re just gradually going through all the applications. you’ll get a change soon enough.

@sisrunner … i don’t know exactly how much it helps in the admission process. definitely wouldn’t hurt. i think there is a part on the application where it asks you that, isn’t there? because you may be eligible for additional university aid if your parent is a faculty member.

@cornellito … you should definitely call. when i had that status a few weeks back, i called and it turned out that my credit card information was one number off so they couldn’t charge my application fee. once i sent over the corrected information, two days later my status changed. then again last week it happened and i called. the counselor said my documents were split between two different files so thats why it was flagged as incomplete. they corrected that issue too and i got the transfer status on April 1.

by the way guys, i emailed the person listed as the contact for my CC. when he answered back a few days later, the title in his signature said:

“Associate Director of Admission
University of Southern California”

:O

hey guys… do you know if decisions are released by majors? Also… if someone isn’t accepted for their first choice major(lets say sca) but is admitted to their second major(lets say IR), does that mean that they “took” the spot of the other applicants who put IR as their first choice major if they get reviewed earlier than others?

I did not yet turn in my financial aid information, I know I know they encourage you to do so. But will that delay my admission, like will they not review it until they receive that financial aid information?

Is there a way to check on USConnect to see if they have charged you the application fee? Or do I have to call?

Duke - no, they will not wait for you to submit your financial aid information before reaching a decision. You really should get on that though!!
And I don’t think it says anywhere in USConnect that they have charged you, but you can check by logging into your online banking service. Mine went through on February 3rd and is listed as “CHECKCARD 0202 USC ADMISSIONS-SIS LOS ANGELES CA” with a long number afterward.

@hyethga4lyfe + phantomazero

I will follow your advice and call them, thanks. Man, this college application thing is stressful.

i don’t know how much longer i can wait before losing my mind :/

@hyethga4lyfe I am completely with you on that one. I wish my status would just change already!! i wanna know way before june 1!

Wooooooooooooh USC!!!

Everytime I see an alumni license plate frame I get way more motivated!!!

Gonna be worth the wait! Patience will pay off :)

@snizzle … haha same! i see them EVERYDAY! … and there are at least 3 or 4 at my gym all the time.

@snizzle77 & hyethga4lyfe

ME THREE! I want to be able to drive around with a USC alumni license plate frame, after I graduate of course!!!

ahh I totally agree with you guys! i see at least one person with usc paraphernalia everyday at my school. i hope it’s a sign for all of us! =)

Hahahaha whenever I tell people I applied to USC I always get “South Carolina???”.

I don’t know anyone and I don’t think anyone I know knows anyone who has gone to USC.

Upstate New York is the most boring place in the world.

^ I’m planning to buy a regular “USC TROJAN” license plate frame when I get in, then the Alumni frame when I graduate
By the way, I feel awfully guilty wearing my USC sweatshirt which was given by my relative who knew I wanted to go to USC… can’t wait to be free from this sin! lol

For those who are worried about the status, my status hasn’t changed yet either but please don’t worry too much! I was told by the admission counselor yesterday that they barely finished with the freshmen and started looking at a very small number of transfers. Imagine how many applications they are going to deal with for the months to come, so chill guys! No matter how much we hate to wait, that’s the only way to get in! Plus, CC only represents a small number of transfer population. I’m sure there are tons of people out there that are waiting just like us.

@whisper … EXACTLY my plan lol. trojan plate first, then alumni when i graduate. oh and i just got the new Dornsife shirt as a gift from my relative who works at USC. its sitting in my room. i’m not wearing it until i get that big fat envelope :)

and yea guys don’t stress too much about the status. my only advice like i’ve said before, is if you have the “missing info” status, call admissions and make sure everything is OK. once they confirm your file is complete, there is nothing left to worry about.

Finally!: “Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by June 1. If for some reason you don’t receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning June 11th.” So happy!

Where do you guys live that you see alumni plates? I live in southern cali and see them all the time and didn’t think you would see many anywhere else.

Haha I guess that’s the difference between the east coast and west coast
In the west coast, USC means University of Southern California, not South Carolina!

And yeah, around here I see tons of SDSU plates (I’m in SD), but I do see some USC plates. There’s one guy in my neighborhood that drives my dream/goal car, has a USC plate, and just bought it from a dealership in the city I dream/plan on living in (SF). Gets me sooooo pumpeddddddd.

Don’t even worry about the statuses either
Like hyethga4lyfe said, unless it says you’re missing something, don’t think too much about it.
