USC 2011 Transfer Thread

I always see the USC license plate frames and gush, wishing that my day will come soon…lol

@hyethga4lyfe who is your regional counselor?

@snizzle what car lol

ahhh i dislike how sc stands for south carolina as well. i wouldn’t want to portray myself as a south caorlina student from an east coast perspective

I live in newport and I see USC alumni stuff everywhere houses with flags and stickers and license plate frames. Also tons of people at my gym wear there alumni gear.

ahhh I see USC stuff every single day!!! My mom wears all the USC clothing, she waves a USC flag on our front door, had USC alumni plates on her car, and even the flowers on our front lawn are cardianl and gold

@prok2010: e92 bmw m3 :wink: so beautiful

Haha yea, and then when I correct them and say “So Cal, not So Car”, they’ll start insulting people from Cali. It’s pretty funny, actually.

But I know I’d absolutely love California. I’m done with snow (it snowed yesterday here). I want to be able to go outside without freezing my ass off!

@snowboard … i live in Glendale, so i see them everyday. and i must admit, its always on a nice car :)

@prok … Mark Rasic

@coolio2244242 i feel the exact same way, it snowed here yesterday too. i can’t wait to be done with washington.

So based on previous transfer threads? what day does USC tentatively start sending out decisions? and what is there transfer acceptance rate? Do most California CC students have a better chance/

april 10 was first last year. late march this year. 26% acceptance. 3.66 avg gpa

No. USC is a private school. The school doesn’t take into account your state residency such as the UCs.

hey so does USC add the $9-10k that Calgrant gives us as Cali residents to financial aid packages for out of state students? just interested. kind of sucks that we get 1/4 of the tuition free from the
state and they don’t

I am incredibly incredibly confused. Are all the status updates the same? or is it different for a freshman and a transfer? Cause Im seeing a lot of “We are reviewing your app (transfer)” and “We have recieved your app (freshman)” on here. Is EVERYONE HERE A TRANSFER? Or there are freshman on here too? Because I have received a status update but it says “We have recieved your app…” and it talks about freshman stuff when im a transfer. Does it matter? Or does everyone get this status regardless if youre a transfer or freshman?

@hyethga4lyfe i was wondering the same thing, but i think it would probably be on a case to case basis.

I have another finaid question though, are we required to fix the FAFSA and CCS? I don’t really see the point of updating it since we have to send copies of our returns, I’m not really concerned about the FAFSA, but the CCS is such a pain.

@jaajaa20 everyone here is a tranafer and i wouldn’t worry about your status very much unless it says “we need more info.” most people started out with the one that talks about freshman, but have moved to the transfer one. they are still reviewing apps and making sure everything is in, everyone’s should have the transfer status very soon.

@hyethga4lyfe

I don’t think so. Only CA residents are eligible. The [California Financial Aid, College Grant, Financial Aid Grants for College: Calgrants.org](http://www.calgrants.org/) states:

[Financial Aid Grants, Grants for School / College Students, California Financial Aid: Cal Grants](http://www.calgrants.org/index.cfm?navId=36&#q10)

@wolf … i know it seems unnecessary, but they do ask for it so i suggest you just make the changes and submit it.

@mitch … i know they don’t qualify for CalGrant. i was just wondering if USC increases the aid package (university grant) for out of state students since they don’t qualify for it like we do. $10k is a lot of money. it would suck if they have to pay out of pocket while we don’t.

UPDATE:

It’s funny how everyone is talking about seeing USC shirts, plates, etc. I live in Virginia, and the majority of the people here rep UVa and VT. BUT yesterday, at work, I saw a woman with a USC hoodie. I had to take a double take to make sure it wasn’t a USMC hoodie (as I work in a naval base), and IT REALLY WAS A USC HOODIE! The chances of me seeing a USC paraphernalia here is one in like thousands!!! IS THIS A SIGN?! I SURE HOPE SO!!!

Oh phew alrite thanks wolfparty!
