<p>Hi, I have been accepted to a few schools as a senior this year but unfortunately due to finances I can’t afford to attend my top choice (Virginia Tech). I will most likely be attending UNC-Asheville for at least my first year of college. They offer a 2+2 engineering program with NC State so I can conisder that my safety after my 2 years as long as I have good grades. My concern is that whether or not those specific entry level engineering classes will transfer to USC or not. Would I be better off just completing all of my general education electives or would that be considered not challenging enough to transfer into Viterbi?</p>

<p>@dragonwiz6 you should check if USC has a articulation history or agreement with your school, that way you can see if any engineering classes have transfered in the past. But note that just because the class isn’t there it doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t transfer it could mean that no one has tried to transfer it before.</p>
<p>I agree we should make a fb group, but i think we should wait for a few more acceptances.</p>
<p>@dragon lol well I doubt there is going to be a random articulation agreement with a school across the country. I encountered this when I tried to transfer classes between 2 totally independent 4-year schools. For the most part, general classes will be transferable (intro classes ex. Psych 100) because they are pretty similar across the nation BUT what you are really going to have to do is contact an admissions counselor at USC (I would wait a bit because they are really busy with admissions right now) and ask them to help you make a plan that will best prepare you to transfer your classes. It’s probably going to take a lot of emailing back and forth but just keep at it and they can give you more advice about what you should take. </p>
<p>Generally, as an Eng major, you are supposed to focus on your math and science classes. So your freshman year you should for sure take Gen Chem 1 & 2, Calc 1 & 2, A biology sequence (usually 1 Organismal class and 1 Molecular Bio class), and begin Calculus based Physics (the highest physics sequence your school offers). I wouldn’t worry too much about Engineering classes per se until you get a hold of the admissions counselor. Sophomore year you should continue with Organic Chem 1 & 2, Calc 3 & Linear Algebra, Finish Physics seq (since it is usually 3 classes long) and then find out what General Education Classes are necessary and will transfer. Most CA Community College transfers to USC don’t take any Eng classes because our CommColls don’t offer them (or they might take one) so seriously focus on those classes I said above and make SURE you don’t fall behind since they are in a sequence and you cant take the next one without completing the first.</p>
<p>^ that’s why I said an “articulation HISTORY or agreement” if anyone has ever transfered from dragon’s school they will have one. my friend transfered from a small school in upstate new york and they had a articulation history from the few people who transferred before her, it wouldn’t hurt him or her to see if their was one for their school as well.</p>
<p>Not sure when mine changed, barely checked today. But sheesh, finally changed from “freshman app” to this.</p>

<p>Thank you very much for the feedback. I really appreciate it. USC is my dream school and I will try my best to gain admission there. I called the admissions office today and they seemed very busy. They were kind enough to email me the brochure for transfers and I began reading it over but I think calling them and setting up a plan for the next two years is my best bet. One question that I have is whether Biology is really required or not since my interest is either electrical or industrial engineering.</p>

Just signed up here. I applied to transfer from Quincy College in Massachusetts to USC as a History major. I’ll be graduating from QC in May with an Associate’s degree in Humanities. I think I’m in good company when I say how very anxious I am to hear a response. USC is the only school I applied to for the fall :-/ Maybe not the best idea in the world, but oh well. Lastly, my application status is basically the same as everyone else… We are currently reviewing your application… and it does say “transfer.”</p>
