I saw some pictures of the campus and wow, it seems awesome! Ever since I was young I wanted to attend a school with a nice campus that has a campus-esque feeling (e.g. Stanford) - a campus that is not too exposed to the city that it’s located in.

However, I’m really curious about the surrounding area. I know that it’s located near downtown LA, and that kind of sounds dangerous/dirty to me.

Is it not a good area to live in, generally?

Univ. of Pennsylvania, Georgia Tech, and USC are all located in urban areas. In the modern world today there is no college that is completely safe. During Meet SC weekends parents can either take bus tours of the surrounding neighborhoods or drive around themselves.

I have posted before a family member was mugged and beaten terribly right across the street from the main entrance of the Univ. of Georgia in little Athens, GA. in the evening on a well lighted street.

In tiny Auburn, AL a freshman female was murdered last year. There is one stoplight in Auburn. Another female was shot close to campus at Univ. of N.C.

SC is located in a working class neighborhood. It certainly is in a nicer neighborhood than parts of Philadelphia, Newark and Louisville I have visited.

On the Class of 2014 Facebook site are campus photos. Check those out.
