<p>Rejected today
SAT: 1970
GPA: 3.56 u, 4.9 w
But I’m happy to go to NYU, I got a nice 25% scholarship from them</p>
<p>Accepted: UCLA, UCSD, Cal Poly SLO, Berkeley (for Spring), UCSB, UCD, and SDSU
Rejected: USC, Yale, Stanford
SAT: 1880 GPA: 3.9 u, 4.4 w, ASB, 2 varsity sports (captain of both), parent went to USC pharmacy school
Would have only gone to USC if their was enough money
going to UCLA, Go Bruins!</p>
<p>SAT: 2150
GPA: 3.9 uw, 4.3 w
Excellent essay, letters of rec
Good extracurriculars</p>
<p>Don’t really see why USC rejected me… but I’m going to Berkeley! :D</p>
<p>^You should appeal with stats like those…</p>
<p>I have similar stats and might appeal, but I’m probably going to UCLA or Berkeley. :)</p>
<p>My daughter, who wants to major in film production,
got rejections from; USC, UCLA and Chapman
accepted to; NYU/Tisch (to costly, very little aid…she is heartbroken), Syracuse Univ. (OK aid but very cold), LMU (haven’t heard about aid yet) and Emerson (very nice aid package)
Have not yet heard from RISD.
It is between Emerson and LMU. We shall see what LMU brings to the table.</p>
<p>Just got my rejection today =/. But hey, I tried my best, what else can I do. Looking forward to Miami!! (or Cal Poly if they take me off the waitlist -_-). </p>
<p>Still considering appealing to USC since I have pretty good “new information”, but I’m hesitant because I don’t think it’d make up for my low GPA. All of the successful appeals I have seen had killer-stats.</p>
<p>where are u from a procrastinator?</p>
<p>Slaz1091, norcal/central valley</p>
<p>damn, I thought I had a shot at appealing but not after seeing all you guys.
4.3, 32, 2100</p>
<p>I got into to cal poly and ucsb, but don’t really know where I want to go besides sc. =/
help me decide!</p>
<p>ugh I haven’t even heard back from USC because my mid-year grade report never reached there. I just submitted the online one yesterday. They haven’t released the admissions decision for me yet. Crap, I probably don’t have much of a chance after seeing the kind of stats of people who got rejected.</p>
<p>Major: Aerospace Engineering or Computer Science
SAT: 1890 (I only took it once. Totally my fault)
APs: 5 AP Calc AB during my junior year (that’s all. My school only offers a few AP classes, and I’m not an English or Bio person) I took Calc 2 at community college and got a 93
GPA: Weighted- 4.2; Unweighted- 3.7</p>
<p>I do a lot of sports and Extracurriculars.
I’m also the team leader for my school’s robot team (I actually started it this year). My robot team won the programming championship for NJ, and qualified to go to Dallas Texas for the World Championship. We also got a $500 scholarship to help get us there
I don’t know if that will really help since it was so recent. I sent the admissions office an e-mail about everything, but I don’t know if they will actually read it and consider it.
What do you guys think?</p>
<p>Someone above mentioned “strange system they’re using this year”. Very true.
The kids who got into USC from my son’s school all had parents who gave lots of $$ to USC but who had subpar GPAs and SATs. The kids who didn’t get in all were equal to kids who got in last year with same GPAs and SATs. Many were legacy as well.
Apparently USC is looking for a very different demographic this year and kids from new prep schools who would have otherwise gone to the Ivy League schools but need to go to USC because they need the scholarship $$. Doesn’t make sense that kids who get accepted at Cal, Stanford, UCLA, ND, etc are getting rejected by USC.
Hope this makes some of you feel better. My son is still intent on using the legacy transfer plan, so we’ll see.</p>
<p>I just got rejected :(</p>
<p>4.0 UW
1360/1980 SAT</p>
<p>I thought I had a decent chance at USC but whatever. I’m going to Michigan unless I get into UPenn today.</p>

<p>Sad but true. I just laugh when they tell you money has nothing to do with whether you get accepted or not. </p>
<p>1900 Sat score plus 3.5 GPA and DAD donating to school gets you in but having a 4.0++ with a 2200++ SAT and no money and you get rejected once they accept a certain amount that they will put on scholarship. </p>
<p>It makes sense for them though because, why would they accept someone who will have to be given a scholarship or put on financial aid instead of someone who can pay the tution or at least some part of it? </p>
<p>I go to a public school in the OC and several kids are getting rejected by USC but some of our friends from private high schools are getting in because daddy can pay the tution. Their Sat scores and their Grade point averages are not as strong but of course money talks.</p>
<p>
Do you have a post from a student with those qualifications and a “0” EFC so we can try to understand your point? I cannot find one. Were those your qualifications and financial situation?</p>
<p>Is there a place where that private school publishes the SAT scores of their students that we could look at? You must have some sort of source for the information - that their scores were “low” - you state so confidently.</p>
<p>Don’t they use the money they get from students paying full tuition as financial aid for students who need it?</p>
