*******USC Class of 2020 Results/Discussion Thread**********

for those who get in today or tomorrow will you please post your stats?:slight_smile: I’m on spring break so I won’t hear until it’s posted online so I’m nervous!!

@imvegetarian2016 SAME TO YOU!!! WE IN THIS TOGETHER

my friend just got in
 20-30 mins away from USC. apparently my mail doesn’t come until 2
 really nervous now :confused:

agree with @Usccurious mail can seriously take up to 3 days even if it’s close by - sucks to wait another day or so but worth it when the package arrives :slight_smile:

@Vandy12020 To find the borderline competitive cutoff, just look at their averages. The 50% for ACT was 29, and the SAT was ~1900. We can guess that the top half is a bunch of tryhards, and the bottom half is either affirmative action’d in, or Theatre majors (cause let’s be honest, your scores don’t matter as much). If you’re applying to a highly competitive/academically focused major, the scores should be a bit higher. If it’s a performing art, the scores could be a little lower.

@pleaseacceptme99 heres the back side http://im g ur.com/We5S1YZ

@Hopefulcaligirl 3.9 GPA UW, 4.3 Weighted, 30 ACT, 1980 SAT, Tennis for 4 years, VP for key club, started a club, and CSF

I’m an hour away from USC and I have friends who received acceptances already - sigh the waiting game is killer.

@sadboys Your “i/m/g/u/r.com” came out as **** cause CC is sometimes a poop. (remove the slashes)

the struggle is tooo real @sjinae

@Merppity affirmative action’d in um
okay then

@Merppity And if you’re international?

@sadboys it’s beautiful ! Congrats again !

@kiwiblossom12 Well, not to be rude, but it’s in the sense that an underrepresented minority (African American, Native American, etc.) are held to lower standards at some schools, and find it easier to get admitted. I’m not saying they’re dumb, but rather that a similar-scoring URM could have an easier chance than a similar scoring white man for example.

And as for international, I wouldn’t know. Probably the same though.

@Merppity – so offensive! If you all want an actual thoughtful post on USC’s holistic admissions, read @madbean’s: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/1558825-what-are-my-chances-read-this-first-p1.html

Anyone know if the acceptance box arrives at the doorstep or if it goes into the mailbox? Just need to know whether I should be completely depressed if my doorbell doesn’t ring at any time tomorrow, lol.

@CCMThreeTimes Which part’s offensive? If you think the Art part, then I say that because an artist’s portfolio will also be considered pretty heavily. If it’s the minority/affirmative action part, then remember that affirmative action is 1) actually pretty common, and 2) considers socioeconomic status (sometimes) as well.

Affirmative action doesn’t “make it easier” for minority students" it tries to give a more level playing field to students who are historically disadvantaged in education. I’m gay for example, which is becoming a bigger deal to colleges- that’s because LGBTQ students have high grade school dropout rates and are three times as unlikely to attend college because of all the harassment and bullying they face. You get the idea.

how much does socioeconomic status help in admission?

Just got my mail, officially accepted!!!’

@Zburg45 CONGRATS!!!
