ccongrats!!!

@zburg45 congrats '!!! :slight_smile: this is so exciting !

I think I prefer this mail method over the updating of portals. It seems more exciting

I got accepted for game design!!! Live an hour away from usc if that helps :slight_smile:

@Merppity , I think the issue is with the term “affirmative action” since it connotes a “quota” system which then has an extremely strong connotation of allowing those who “don’t deserve it” or “couldn’t compete on equal footing” an opportunity that may have gone to other “more qualified” individuals. Note that if you’re referring to an admissions process that strives to create diversity in race, ideas, genders, socio-ecnomic backgrounds, etc, that this is fundamentally not the same as “affirmative action” and as such shouldn’t be labeled in that manner.

@ManhattanSubway

Everyone who is getting the mail today is getting accepted, so i don’t think we still have a chance LOL but i’m still hoping

@Zburg45 congrats! Where do you live if you don’t mind me asking

@pterosprite Yeah, it’s designed to level the playing field to account for different situations, etc. But the thing is, affirmative action is still a thing. It doesn’t matter whether it’s right or wrong, it makes getting in “easier” when they consider the apps.

@Elphione WAY TO GO super Congrats :slight_smile: Awesome Major!!!

Anyone receive anything in Oregon yet

@Merppity The part that was offensive was the part you prefaced with “well, not to be rude.”

Sincerely,

Simon Cowell

@Zburg45 thank God that USC swag is not going to waste!!! :wink:

I live an hour outside of USC and just got my mail, nothing! Still optimistic for tomorrow :slight_smile:

Ah, that part. Well, words are hard @choirsandstages . Don’t overthink the phrasing, just the actual message. And A LOT of people find anything relating to affirmative action (or whatever you want to call it) offensive.
Also, you people living next to USC are lucky to hear back so early. Congrats on getting in!

Would you guys choose usc over ucla

@HopefulSenior16 Same thing happened to me.

@bostonliving9696 probably. I’d get the NMF half tuition from USC and got nothing from UCLA (OOS). I like both schools either way.

@imvegetarian2016 You’re fine, they literally mailed them out yesterday. It takes time for a physical package to be mailed.

I think the part people struggle with most regarding affirmative action is when an individual who didn’t struggle as their general race, gender or such did gets accepted purely from their labels.

Do you guys think usc is superior to ucla in business undergrad? I know ucla doesn’t have an undergraduate program but it still is very common to be successful from both right?
