@traveler2000 You’re welcome and I certainly wish you a fantastic college experience where it may be - make it a great one! Truly, there are many wonderful schools out there!
According to my SAR i’m eligible for 4,850 in federal pell grant. Do you think I’ll get a lot from USC? I just submitted some extra required forms yesterday, so I’m not sure how long it’s gonna take for me to get my FA report.
@periwinkle1923 I have an EFC of $17k and they gave me $41k in grant aid. With loans and work study, I would still have to cover a little over $26k.
@LifewithLia Thanks so much for the information! Hopefully I’ll hear back from usc and receive enough in grant aid/loans/work-study to be able to afford USC (I haven’t gotten any scholarship from my other schools). I saw your earlier post and that you’ll be heading off to Notre Dame - best wishes to you and good luck!!
pironhavator, this is a smart decision. Why pay $72K a year when there are so many other opportunities out there. Clearly you are a smart cookie if USC accepted you to begin with. Good luck!
are these the final financial aid summaries or are they being updated? are the departmental scholarships out? I received zero in aid which was very surprising especially due to USC’s claim of it’s generosity of aid. REALLY stressing because this is my dream school and did not expect to get in, I don’t want to be this close but have aid restrict me from committing.
I have a serious problem because although my financial aid summary is not yet available my EFC is 80k and it’s so wrong and I can’t ask my mother to make changes because she refuses. They took her information from the IRS but she retired two years ago and all that information reflects what she’s getting from her pension as if she was receiving all that money at once when in reality it’s very small payments each month. I know I’m about to be devastated because USC is my dream school but I won’t be able to attend because they will give me no money all because of some misinformation.
Does anyone know if the FA normally awarded for 4 years or it’s renewed every year based on the most recent family income?
We got the University Scholarship mentioned earler, BUT… given that we did not see any Unsubsidized Loan info, and the fact that the page said it is subject to change, I’m certain this it is not the final picture yet.
I guess we will let it settle out, and we’ll be checking again after the weekend - Still hoping for a miracle departmental award…
I’m just disappointed. I thought USC would be able to provide aot more, but they are expecting us to contribute 60K, almost half of our income. And then when I called to inquire they said, “we really don’t give aid to families with six figures”. They’re treating us like we aren’t a working middle class family…
Does anyone else see a section D on their financial aid summary? I only have sections ABC…
@geekygeek no, what’s section D?
Has anyone ever appealed to their department for financial help? USC is my son’s top choice school but he received only $4,000 and I don’t think we can swing this. Can he write to Annenberg and see if they can help?
@worldfairs66 Where do you find where it says how much financial aid we are getting?
I believe it’s loans and and work study. Someone posted a picture of their FA package on a group chat but only showed the bottom part with their net cost being around $6000. And in small text below, it says like “Total Financial Aid (B+D)” but mine only says “Total Financial Aid (B)” and B are gift aid which includes the merit scholarship I interviewed for.
Earlier I was wondering what an estimated 15k Expected Family Contribution could potentially yield in terms of scholarship. Thought I should also mention that my family’s income is approx 110k a year and i have an elder sis in med school that costs about 70k a year. Not sure how all of these numbers work out in the end, but would that still put me in a good chance to receive aid? i know that @LifewithLia mentioned receiving 41k in grant aid with an EFC of 17k. Does usc focus more on EFC or on income?
is everyone finding financial aid on the yousc portal?
I’m super confused, I got a university gift of $1,875. I’m a spring admit so I’m not sure if that’s per semester or per year, but my EFC has been well over what USC would cost for every other university I’ve gotten into. Is this a merit scholarship or a financial aid scholarship?
@xichigan the $1,875 is per semester.
Hi! I was wondering if the explore USC Program is available to reserve yet. If not, does anyone know what day we are allowed to sign up?
