USC Class of 2022

@JohnGaltIII I just asked my current freshman daughter (who just got home last night weeeee!) and she remembers getting it while in class last year as a hs senior so it must have been May. She said pretty early so I would say anytime now. She got a single which she didn’t expect so it was a memory maker. :slight_smile:

Officially, housing assignments are made in Mid-may, so possibly next week.

@CADREAMIN oh I totally get that circumstances are different for each kid and each family. If it is a financial hardship or doesn’t fit into the work schedule, I can totally see not going. Different parents also have different levels of involvement in these sorts of things. I was just saying personally for me that I’m excited to be going and happy that USC has these kinds of programs for the parents who can and want to attend.

Hi! This is really really late, but I just wanted to thank the people who were being so supportive and informative in this thread! I was of those people who lingered on this thread since last November even though I didn’t even have an account. I know this site gets a bad rep, but I think it is definitely possible to keep it civilized and helpful just as long as people are willing.

One down… one more to go in 3 years… as my oldest graduated from USC today. As one person sitting next to us commented, “Wow - this is so unnecessarily epic”. It was a long but impressive day overall. Ran into George Newbern (Scandal / Father of the Bride / etc., Joan Allen (The Bourne films / The Notebook / etc., Peter Friedman (Love & Other Drugs / Single White Female / etc. & Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland / Rogue One / etc… plus Joe Torre (Major League Baseball player, manager and executive)… so your usual mix of celebrities. Most were just parents of a graduating student like me.

All in all… very well done on USC’s part. Only drawback was today’s weather… a tad too chilly and windy for many.

Fight On Class of 2018 !!! Good luck to the incoming Class of 2022 !!!

Congrats @WWWard Love the epic comment - frankly USC is unnecessarily epic in many things it does - that is why it is USC!

I get the chilly - it was that way last year, but sure beats sweltering. But ya that’s a California coastal kind of morning, brought in by natures air conditioning from the Pacific. But heat will come eventually. All two weeks of it, then again for two other weeks in Sept or Oct.

Proud pappa! A USC grad in the house (or out of the house actually, but you know what I mean). Congrats again.

Thanks, @CADREAMIN !!!

Indeed. Epic is what USC does / is… and does well.

And yes… I will always take a slight chill over sweltering heat :slight_smile:

I know this is really is a bad question to ask but I have committed to USC for spring admit of 2019. I live in the dorms, and on Saturday, I got caught entering the dorm from drinking. I was sober, but my friend was totally blacked out so all of us got 3 days suspension. Our school has informed me that I will have a chance to write a letter to USC and explain what has happened. The school will then report to USC. I am really worried that my acceptance will be rescind. Honestly, I regret so much of what I have done and really hope I could attend USC. Does anyone know if USC would rescind my acceptance? Is USC little bit tolerant about this issue? Someone please help me :frowning:

@international18 any chance you can convince them not to report the incident? Seems truly unnecessary.

@cancam2022
Our school has already told me that it is the school policy to report any instances of suspension. The only hope is that our school said they would write the letter to minimize the impact of admission. but honestly I can’t believe what my school says if I can’t read the letter(which is obviously impossible)

If you were sober and helping the friend, shouldn’t you actually get commended for this? Was this at a boarding school?
@international18

does anyone know when housing should come out?

My daughter received her housing assignment today. I don’t know if it comes in waves or all at once, but it may be worth checking.

@sunnyschool
Our school is boarding school and drinking itself was a problem.
I don’t know if this would make a difference but where I live now(I am an international student), I am legally allowed to drink.
I am not sure whether USC will be strict about such stuff

My daughter just got her assignment. McCarthy!

S was disappointed not to get McCarthy or his backups, but hopefully Parkside works out. Looks to be on a far side of campus.

@Naevia Parkside is super comfortable (newer and AC) and has the best food - even better than the Village (which I just ate at a week ago - it was ok). So you get those for the trade-off of location. It is close to engineering buildings, one of mine had a great time there. Don’t worry about not getting McCarthy, there is mixed reviews on that for the freshman experience, some are happy there and some are happy not to be there. He can likely get it as a sophomore and that way experience two different types of housing.

I got put in New North as my last choice :frowning: I submitted my reassignment request maybe an hour after assignments came out. Do you think its possible that I would be placed somewhere else? I really cant envision myself in New North. Should I call housing?

My daughter also got her housing assignment - she is in Birnkrant (first choice) with her chosen roommates. She has no regrets about choosing Birnkrant over McCarthy (and hopefully still feels that way without A/C in her room!) Very excited and cannot believe move-in day is 3 months from tomorrow.
