Here’s a weird one. Site says “payment did not go through” but when I checked my bank it DID go through. Now what? Pay again?? Grrgh!
S20 got his completed 4 hours 44 minutes after he started. Payment receipt received. Application submitted. Phew.
Option to enter information of a named roommate now, but these steps probably can be completed in coming days.
Also took 4+ hours of fairly constant refreshing. We just kept hitting the submit buttons until the page started spinning to show it was working and after several minutes, it would advance to the next screen.
I finally finished mine too – five hours about. Lots of reloading and crashing.
Did anyone get past the payment page - onto the ‘sign contract’ and choose roommate? The system is wanting me to re-enter payment even though we received receipt of payment, so we can’t bypass that at the moment…
@CAtransplant freshman or transfer?
also did the SCA interview her prior to admission decision?
We finally finished here too - abut 2:15 pm so 5 hours & 15 minutes after we started trying.
@hermit1214 freshman - and no.
@VivienL we got all the way through, payment was received and I got an email confirming that and daughter got an email confirming her housing app. was received. We didn’t have to sign a contract though. We did get to the part where if you have a roommate in mind already and want to form a ‘roommate group’ you could do that. Not sure what to advise for you - call them and ask maybe?
Also, we did not see Marks Tower - there’s a Marks Tower and a Marks Hall and Marks Tower was going to be one of my daughter’s choices but we only saw Marks Hall on the drop down menu - did anyone see Marks Tower?
No. Payment was the last page we got to. Never saw Sign Contract or Select Roommate. Hopefully since we got a receipt email all is OK!
@CAtransplant I’m kind of worried now. Haha. They scheduled an interview with me yesterday.
ugh
Have your kid email housing@usc.edu with their name, USC ID#, and a copy of the receipt which has a time stamp of course. Tell them that the application page timed out and is asking for repayment. Maybe they can do the fix on their end.
ETA: or pay twice and ask USC to refund one of the payments
@hermit1214 are you a transfer student then? Did you apply for Production? My daughter applied for Production first choice and CAMS second choice and was admitted to CAMS (though now she actually thinks she prefers CAMS so she’s happy with it). Don’t worry, and fingers crossed!
Advancement past the Roommate Group creation is also having a major lag. S20 may have to revisit later. He and a friend are considering attending, so might room together, but are undecided about final college choices at this point.
@CAtransplant Yes, I am a transfer student for production. I’m just a little worried because my stats are not the greatest, it’s not bad, but it’s not super good. And also, I’ve heard that they don’t interview everyone. Just those that they’re on the bubble with or something.
Just for re-assurance, their housing situation is very good, getting signed up in these first few days will likely get you exactly what you want. The only thing someone may miss out on is a single, which are hard to come by anyway (some buildings have under 10 or none). Need to be in first few minutes for one of those. If it’s the same as last few years, the Village is already full and just use for random fill spots later in the summer as people change mind, etc. But if trying for the usual double, you’ll be fine.
@CAtransplant not sure about Marks Tower unless they are doing remodel? If someone calls housing you can add it to list of questions ha.
@hermit1214 well good luck to you. Did you put a second choice/alternate major as well?
Thanks for the info. My D’s school is also listed as Provost Office, but we received an email from Dornsife. That’s why I am confused.
@JazzyG you’re welcome
Got admitted to the USC Keck Global Health major. Wanted some advice to how competitive it is and how the program is for premeds.
Thanks
Also got into some BS/MD programs (VCU and SUNY Upstate) and Umich, UNC, and Middlebury.
I would also like to hear the opinion of this group’s USC experts about pre-med at USC.
- How competetive it is?
- What is the acceptance rate to medical schools?
- How hard is it get good GPA?
Any insight is helpful.
I posted similar question in “College Search and Selection” and got some good opinions but would like to hear from this group.
@CAtransplant Yes, I selected Screenwriting as my second choice.
