@emiliafilms There are other universities with later deadlines. For example, the deadline at the University of Central Florida is May 1st. They have an up and coming film program, offering both BA and BFA options. The University of Tampa offers a rolling admission process with no real deadline. They also offer a film major. Those are just two examples near me. I name each because my daughters have friends at both who love them. Both are much more affordable than USC… even for OOS applicants. My point is that it does not have to be just USC or community college. There are scores of other options out there. These all offer rolling admissions: Arizona State University, Indiana University Bloomington, Michigan State University, Pennsylvania State University (Penn State), Quinnipiac University, Texas A&M University, University of Alabama, University of Maine, University of New Haven, University of Pittsburgh, University of Tulsa.
The USC financial aid portal still says “in review”, has for months. Applied early, wonder if that means a rejection decision was reached months ago so no there’s no need to continue to review for financial aid?
@Husky1995 As long as you have checked all links and made sure that you have submitted all requested or required docs, that is all that you can do on that front.
I totally connect with you. With everything happening in the world right now and all the rejections (can’t even cry and hug with friends due to social distancing). USC has been my dream all along so it’s going to be the biggest hit so far…
@emiliafilms i am so sorry if my posts have been so insensitive! I really hope we both get good news for USC and we can laugh all of this stress off together.
@CindyLeuWho Omg no, you haven’t been insensitive at all!! And I’m so sorry if I came across as whiny in my post, I’m just super stressed about college + everything going on in the world rn. It makes me feel a lot better knowing that many of us are in a similar situation though, praying we all get great news from USC and then even better financial aid haha!
We use to be able to attach certain links, but it seems more limited now, (or I’m just confused, sorry mod) there’s sites with list of colleges that take app even into July and beyond…
Hope you don’t need them but many aren’t aware of options as @WWWard pointed out.

Totally relate to your anxiety! I was rejected from both UCLA and Wake Forest today… Now I’m super stressed about USC. I have been admitted to Tulane, Illinois UC, and UCSD, but USC is my dream and the only place I can see myself. You’ve got this though!!! I have faith that you will end up where you are supposed to be. Sending out positive energy into the universe for the both of us!!!
I’m really sorry you seniors are having to go through such a troubling time with this dang virus situation - all during the end of your senior year. Then on top of it all, the angst of college decisions. UGH! Every parent of a hs senior - past, present and future - understands this is really an emotional time, but we may not say exactly the right thing at exactly the right time. We hurt with and for you and want to help you get through it. Know deep down we get it and we are sorry about the timing of this awful situation. But no matter what - YOU GOT THIS! This too shall pass and you will go to college. Be strong!
But please don’t let getting in or not getting into a school define you. What you do at college is way more important than where you go to college, it truly is. Dream schools are so dangerous to have - I know, everyone has one - but I hope you are open to more than once choice. I have seen kids bottom out after college decisions and it is horrible. Don’t let any college do that to you. You can’t always define the path you will be on, but only you can make sure you get the most out of the path you end up on.
I hope your dreams come true, but if this one doesn’t, you have to make a new dream. That’s just how it has to be sometimes. And the next dream can be better than ever imagined if you keep yourself open to possibilities at every fork in the road.
I know the parents on here are sincerely rooting for all of you! And it’s wonderful to see how supportive you applicants are of one another. That’s a good sign for our future.
Makes sense, no judgement, I thought that may be the case. No difference in that and private schools anyway - they are all expensive. ha. UCSD is great school - very academic, don’t know much about econ there compared to others in terms of program strength. But overall very strongly regarded.
With all that is going on, waitlisted at UCLA may be in play this year more than the past. Good luck!
Admitted to UNC, Michigan, Babson, UCSD, UCI, Pepperdine
Rejected from UVA, Pomona, UT Austin
Waitlisted at UCLA, Boston College
1510, 3.91 UW, 4.57 W some leadership positions, started business.
USC is the dream and has been for a while what do we think my chances are?
@KMELLIOTT No. According to the USC website they will provide updates/announcements to folks portals on the 26th (someone said 2 pm PST?). Hope that helps!
