USC Class of 2028 — Regular & Early Action Decisions

So the associate 18K or Leadership 10K were not part of the merit email? and can be just added to the offer letter out the the blue?

They are just added in March and not part of merit email.

Confirming, we never applied for Spring admit. Received notification last March when regular decisions were announced. My D23 studied abroad during the fall semester with other USC Spring admits and had a fantastic experience. She started at USC in January and it has been an easy transition so far, knock on wood! She is loving it–just needs to invest in some rain boots:)

Great! so did USC send her study abroad? may I ask you where?

If spring admit students want to study abroad fall semester, USC has agreements with schools in London, Paris, Rome, Prague, and Switzerland. My daughter chose London and there were about 40 USC spring admit students in her program. Unsure of the numbers for the other programs but London and Paris appeared to be the most popular options.

Thank you!!! It would be great if they propose this to my son…unfortunately you can not apply

EA acceptance is required for merit scholarships (unless you qualify as a NMF), but need based aid is a separate determination. From some of the posts here, some people have been pleasantly surprised with their offers, so you never know.

Are Spring admits focused on particular majors perhaps?

It is not focused on certain majors. It’s just a balancing game with their enrollment. Room opens up in spring from study abroad and other reasons, so they fill it with spring admits.

I would think the balancing is based on expected gaps/space with certain majors, versus just the next x number group of best applicants.

Forgot to put this here but deferral USC <3

Exactly, in that way it is major based. I thought the question was asking if someone could know they would get spring offer based on major ahead of time. And that would be difficult to predict!

Just curious, is deferral just a kinder way for USC to say that you are rejected?

Nope. A rejection letter is a rejection.

A deferral asks you to wait a little longer. At some schools (don’t know if USC was one of them), admissions weren’t able to get to all the applications.

I’ve been told it’s harder to get in EA than RD. Higher standards. But, the numbers are doubled now . . .

No, my son was deferred – and devastated – last year. He was admitted RD and is a very happy freshman now.

Not for USC. These are the numbers from last year:
EA acceptances: 2,467
Deferral acceptances: 2,043
RD acceptances: 3,584

However, do keep in mind that USC only does acceptances and deferrals at EA. There are no EA rejections.

How are the interviews going for everyone? My son has his next week, just got his wisdom teeth extracted so he’s going to be chubby cheeked.

That’ll be a good jumping off point in the conversation!

We did not get one, was an option to elect to get interviewed?
