Sorry, yes I was typing late last night. EA should come out in mid to late January.

Changing majors is very possible at USC. If your son wants to transfer from Dornsife (economics) to Marshall (finance or real estate), here are the classes and the USC GPA required for current USC students. Business Administration Major | USC Marshall
Thank you for information. If he gets bad grades, cannot move it. That is stressful kind of. Thank you again.
My kid did same thing last year after USC offer result withdrawn the ED2 application as USC was top priority on list
I’ll mention it now because it is a current topic of discussion on the parent FB group. The Presidential (half-tuition) and Trustee (full-tuition) scholarships are for undergraduate education (8 semesters, 144 units). The scholarship is not for graduate work. This can be tricky for students who pursue a progressive degree.
Many students arrive with enough AP units that they are able to complete both their bachelors and masters in four years. However, it is important that a student cannot earn more than 144 units and must save at least 12 undergraduate units for the last semester so that they are not reclassified as a graduate student. The maximum number of AP units that USC will accept is 32 units. For a student that enters with 32 transferable units, they cannot exceed 112 units in major classes, minor classes, general ed, PE, electives, etc.
More information can be found here. I will try to mention it again once merit scholarships are awarded. Note: When reading the list of scholarships, the NMF half-tuition scholarship is called Presidential. The National Merit Scholarship listed below it is an additional (smaller) scholarship for students who don’t receive an NMS scholarship from NMSC or a corporation.
If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you will see an entry under “Upload Materials”. For my DS, it shows “We have received the following documents from you:” and shows transcript receive date. Other than that, only SAT and common app is shown. We also emailed them, and they confirmed they received everything on their end. It is a bit annoying to not show the LORs.
Oh. I see . These are also not visual on our portal too. I think that isn’t important. Don’t mind it.
yes
Small correction… although the vast majority of NMSF students become National Merit Finalists, USC only guarantees the Presidential Scholarship to accepted students who obtain NMF status (not just NMSF).
Good catch! Let me correct my post.
What’s the thinking on whether USC will reject more EA applicants for year 2 of the program, consistent with other trends and helpful for students?
When we visited in October, they said their intention was to only accept or defer EA this year.
Last year was the first year of EA. They did not reject any EA applicants and they will not reject EA this year either (See FAQ here). They are accepting the same percentage of students for merit scholarships as they did before offering EA. However, I believe they are accepting some students EA and not offering them a scholarship. I’m not sure what percentage that was last year. @CADREAMIN do you know?
Having those who want to be considered for scholarship apply earlier, gives admissions more time to evaluate applications. It also allows students to notify USC if they are no longer interested in attending if they were not offered a merit scholarship.
When we got fast portal . I thought there was written " it is unavailable by 1 st April on appealing concerning increase in Estimated cost of Attendance ON documents library but there is empathy now. Is it bad or good sign? Or it was empty from first time? i maybe hallucinating because of too being obsessed with sign. Recently, my head is not normal.
Financial Aid and Admissions are on two completely separate & independent paths until when admissions announces its decisions. The FAO will basically learn who is being admitted as you and every other applicant are. So, you will derive no hints regarding potential admissions via the FAO, FAST, or their communications with you. That is just the reality of how they operate.
We know . I wonder if there was written or no.
Do we know if USC looks at first-semester senior grades before it makes early-action decisions?
I don’t think so. Because our school semester grade comes out after January 16. But usc may announce January 15. And already decision is made . They are now in winter break and return January 7. Too much work to decide for 10 days with so many applications.
Generally, for the purposes of admission into USC, we first review an applicant’s coursework from grades 9 - 11. Applicants are also expected to submit grades from the fall term of their senior year as soon as they are available by using the Mid-Year Report Form included in the Common Application.
