We didn’t get email for it.
Just got to know my S24 also got it. There are 2 additional scholarships the e-mail points out, one is a native-american scholarship and another one is a Jewish scholarship. They are open for anyone to apply to as long as they have demonstrated interest in these communities.
Is that good thing? My son didn’t get it. It doesn’t give to all students i think. Since i asked him but no.
I think it goes out to everyone. First time around my S24 said he received nothing although the email had been sent 2-3 days earlier !
Oh. Thank you. But my son checks his email and spam every hour since other schools may send emails too. Is it bad sign? Are the scholarships same as Merit scholarship we applied. I am really confused since there seems so many scholarships exist.
No, they are not the EA merit scholarships.
Scholarships - Undergraduate Admission
USC Merit Scholarships
Administered through the Office of Admission, USC Merit Scholarships require students to apply for admission to the university by either November 1 or December 1, depending on their intended major. Most majors require students to apply Early Action and submit a complete application by November 1.
Early Action is not available for students applying to the Iovine and Young Academy or to majors in Architecture, Art and Design, Cinematic Arts, Dance, Dramatic Arts or Music. Applicants to these majors should apply by December 1 to be considered for both admission and scholarships.
Ranging in value from a few thousand dollars up to full tuition, merit scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, leadership, service and talent. These include the full-tuition Trustee Scholarship, the half-tuition Presidential Scholarship and the one-quarter tuition Deans Scholarship.
The other scholarships are likely listed on this grid. Undergraduate Scholarships.
I would not worry about it at all. These are automated e-mails that get sent through some system.
Thank you. He may not choose USC later ( not sure) Because he chose economic major but later he realizes that he wants to study financial field or estate since his father invests estate . He wanted business field more than economic. I am very unhappy with our mistakes now.
I’m wondering if anyone can see the letters of rec uploaded into their kid’s portal. All documents have checkmarks and I can see the transcript has been uploaded. The high school sent the recs two months ago - they confirmed they can see that on their end. I had my son email admissions and they said they have everything they need but it bothers me that it doesn’t show an upload in the portal. Does anyone else’s portal show letters of rec?
We asked USC about this… they don’t show rec letters on the portal so you’re good!
Was the common app marked as received? They got common app and recommendation letter is in common app. I think it is fine totally.
Oh. Can you see transcript was uploaded? Our portal only show that received common app and SAT score? Where is it? Please can you show how it is?
We can’t see transcript is uploaded. Where is it in portal? Can you show that?
The common app was marked as received so if the rec letters are in the common app that’s why I’m not seeing it. If you scroll down there’s an area where you can “upload” docs. We did not upload anything but that’s where I see the transcript.
We didn’t get any email for applying scholarship from usc . Is it matter ?
Hi! Does usc admit more from ea than regular decision?
The vast majority of students are admitted RD. EA is for students who are being awarded merit scholarships. Not being accepted EA doesn’t mean you are not worthy of admission or that you are rejected. It just means that you are not being considered for a merit scholarship.
From the USC website, “We estimate that 20-25 percent of our admission spaces will be granted during the EA round.” Admission spaces. Not 20-25% of applications. Not 20-25% of admissions decisions. 20-25% of admission spaces.
I wonder how that plays out with NMSF students who are admitted and will receive the presidential scholarship ? I know a NMSF from last year who was deferred in EA and admitted in RD and they received the presidential scholarship. Seems like USC is trying to figure out how EA-ED can be advantageous for them.
Although NMF is a merit scholarship, it can be awarded with either EA or RD acceptances (note: USC does not have ED).
If a NMF is accepted EA in January, they are guaranteed the half tuition scholarship and are invited to interview for the full tuition scholarship. If a NMF is accepted with RD in March, they are guaranteed the half tuition scholarship.
Ok that makes sense. And EA typically comes out mid-January right? I’m just curious since I’m doing ED 2 to a school and by the chance I get into usc I would want to withdraw from the binding agreement.
