Looks like they wanted signed copies of tax returns with the USC ID number on them… should I resubmit them?
I also received an email earlier this morning requesting my tax return. While the email clarified this request is not an indication of decision, but I wonder why they’re asking for it just a couple of days before the decision is set to be released.
Yes, us too.
Just to set expectations my d24 had all the “signs” of a denial for the EA round and got in. Her bf had all the signs of admit including a few similar emails from FA and about missing items and was deferred. Don’t get too caught up in the portal astrology roller coaster…
Has anyone not received much from USC since deferral? Last email DD got was 1/23. Seems like not a great sign.
Nothing. It’s been totally quiet.
Nope, nothing, other than the request for midyear transcripts shortly after EA deferral. The lack of FA requests is troubling to me, so not feeling hopeful. I have read, however, a couple admit stories from FA applicants who weren’t asked for more than FAFSA/CSS Profile - that’s only thing keeping us going.
Anyone else have a similar bolstering story to tell?
Not getting asked for anything is an equally good sign, it just means your file is complete and that is good to/for them.
After getting waitlisted at UCSD and UCLA, I’m hoping I have a shot at USC. It would be a dream come true. Fight on!!!
Haven’t heard a word.
Our request was received over a week ago, which may indicate a rolling process. I am in the camp of thinking it doesn’t have to do with admissions since they are need blind. Maybe just a coincidence in timing?
We were asked the same and several other tax paperwork before EA. My son got in.
OMG, just learned that my S24 did not know he had to submit a deferral form. He did that today. Guess that means bye bye USC😭
Good luck to the rest of you…
Oh, no! Was there a date by which the form needed to be submitted? I wonder whether it would help to call the AO tomorrow to see whether they would consider the deferral form that DS just submitted.
Best wishes to you and DS, regardless of where he matriculates.
Thank you. I’ll call them up tomorrow. I don’t think there was a deadline given for the form.
From the deferral letter.
We have decided to defer your admission application for further review. If you wish to remain in consideration, please take these two steps: (1) Submit the EA Deferral Form (found in your USC applicant portal, by February 1; and (2) arrange to send us your mid-year grades if you or your school has not already done so.
February 1 was to deadline for the EA Deferral form aka LOCI
Last year there was a kid who didn’t submit the deferral letter until the eve of admission and he was admitted. I’d call the admissions office.
Thank you for sharing this information. If the school is still in the process of finalizing their decisions on the deferred students, perhaps the student has a chance of being considered. I suppose we’ll never know unless the student is eventually admitted or waitlisted.
@CaliforniaMom2024, did you see the post from @Baltmom23, above? Please let us know the outcome if you contact the AO today.
