USC Class of 2028 — Regular & Early Action Decisions

One of mine is a Thornton grad - enjoy the coming sweatshirt (they always send, assuming this year too) - you can’t buy those in the bookstore so they are pretty coveted! Don’t have to tell DS it’s coming incase they go cheapo this year, ha, but they’ve been sending those out to admits for years.

Since the student in question is BA Theater, she didn’t apply EA. All majors that require an audition or portfolio cannot participate in EA. Instead, their applications are due on December 1st and then decisions are notified with RD.

Oops thanks!

But they did with other merits. My son applied EA and was admitted EA, but received associates merit out of the blue a day after regular admits.

Is anyone able to sign up for Admitted Student Days? We’re not able to see any sign up links in the portal.

Yes, can see all the dates. Did not go through till the end since I am sure we can book multiple so cant confirm that.

You can book the open house and one other admitted student day event. We went to both last year and it was worth it. There was some overlap, but enough of a difference to make it valuable.

Thanks :), did not want to book anything till we decide this weekend. Good to know.

@mom2023SF can you explain the difference between the two events?

Associates have always been given around RD. Deans is the one that sometimes they surprise people with. They say they are given EA, but I think they end up with extra funds some years. Was hoping others were surprised with Deans.

Thank you. If we were already given school aid estimated numbers right after EA acceptance and now they gave us this merit on Saturday,… is this usually in addition? Or they had this in mind in school aid number and now made it more official? It basically says this merit will only apply when you commit.

I should have taken notes as I asked the question in advance too and didn’t get great answers. I would say that the Open House is more of a Rah Rah event. It is huge. It starts in Galen Center and really makes you feel a part of a huge USC family. We did break into colleges and then further into related majors (this was for SCA) SCA games went WAY over the time limit so we missed some other things (dorm tours and campus tour) but it was worth it to spend more time with SCA.
The weekday event was much much smaller. Still had a hype up welcome, but not to the level as the open house. And then the kids and parents basically split up for the rest of the day. The kids went with their major and did info sessions, tours, lunch with current students, etc. The parents went to a school specific Q&A and then had a really nice lunch with professors from that school. There were also tours after that, but the bulk of the day was spent in the student’s college.
Even though USC was always my daughter’s first choice, she was accepted into a high reach, so felt she had to give it fair consideration. The admitted student day events really solidified her choice of USC. Also, she met many friends at those events.

Does anyone have housing recommendations for an incoming freshman SCA Film & Television Production student? Lots of options and we have not been to campus yet so it is a little overwhelming. Thanks.

My daughter has a ton of friends in that major and they all live in Webb apartments. If you are planning on attending the admitted student days, just put anything down on housing registration and then you can change it after you visit the school.

About Transfer Trojan Program:

Is it by invitation only?

Does everyone who was rejected get this in their decision letter?

Is there any eligibility criteria for applicants?

Also for a successful transfer through TTP at sophomore year, which is a favored route, transferring from a local CC or from a 4 year university?

Waiting anxiously for the financial package to issue! Is there any date for this?

Our Fafsa was just processed and will take a week or more for colleges to get it. Plus, I figured I would add more colleges to the fafsa once it processed and never added USC in the first place so even more delays for us

Apparently 50% or so FAFSA applications are missing signatures (ours too). Due to the fact that if parents clicked on submission, then student didn’t get the chance to sign it.
Signature and adding universities is part of correction button that it may be fixed in the next two weeks (what they say). Then the system will need time to send corrected FAFSA to colleges and thus who knows when the school will be able to send final FAS numbers.
