For new admittees? I must have missed that.
Yes, see Daily Trojan article above.
Students applying to Cinematic Arts or any other USC program without an EA option are still considered for merit and are not penalized. My CA student did receive merit. In the online Admissions" welcome to USC event a couple of weeks ago, they said all merit awards have been sent.
Hi all - it’s been awhile since I’ve posted (after all of the smoke has cleared with admissions decisions). S24 was deferred in EA and to our surprise was accepted to USC in RD! We paid our housing deposit and he had every intention of attending, but he was surprised with some acceptances on Ivy Day, one of which is a school that is top 3 for his major. So unfortunately, he declined his offer to USC. My question relates to my D26 as USC is absolutely her number one choice (and she won’t be applying to any Ivies). I know there are a ton of applicants, and the chances of the admissions counselor remembering that my son declined are slim. However, we come from a small state, only 4 kids from his high school were accepted to USC this year and we have a usual last name, so I think it’s possible they’ll remember. Does anyone have experience with a younger sibling applying when the older sibling declined, and do you think it had an impact on the admissions decision?
S19 was accepted at USC with a full Trustee Scholarship and declined the acceptance. D22 still got accepted with a NMF Presidential Scholarship and is currently finishing up her sophomore year at USC! (We were worried about the same thing as you but everything ended up fine!)
Thank you! That makes me feel much better!
We are in an affluent school district in Southern California, although not many are accepted for a fall start at USC outside of sports commits. This year my daughter, a legacy, and one other girl were accepted for fall, neither are sports recruits. Both are equal stats, top of the class kids. The other girl’s two older brothers were also accepted to USC in prior years and both declined to attend UC’s. She was offered a USC acceptance, but declined for a UC as well. I don’t think your son’s decision will affect your daughter.
Is anyone get final FA summary?
To those lucky enough to be admitted to USC, congrats!
As an alumnus, I am sad that the Israeli-Palestinian-Hamas cancel culture war hit USC, with graduation cancelled this year.
Please don’t let that decision affect your future. Have a great time at USC, and I hope you fulfill all your dreams. I loved and cherished my time there.
One ceremony was cancelled. The others are still scheduled. Additional security measures have been added.
I’m just hoping the graduates can have the day they deserve!
Yes, I do too!
Forbes names USC among the 10 “New Ivies:”
When do they offer fall spots if any open up, to spring admits. Is it in June?
Could be June, but I think most have been in July and even some in August. With the spring they are having, my bet would be later than sooner this year.
Graduation is so big for them (even under normal years) which takes great effort from everyone. So less is getting done on other admin stuff till after that.
I would like to remind posters that this is a thread about admissions for class of 2028. There is an ongoing thread on campus protests, so please don’t derail this thread with that discussion, unless it is in context of admissions and decisions.
Hasn’t been an issue here.
How do we know if we’re a spring admit? Also anyone know about appeals?
Has anyone received their housing assignment? They said they would start rolling out around 5/15.
any news on appeals?
