I have heard appeals come out during June. I think admissions will have a better idea on when though. I hope you get good news.
freshman appeals come out today
No, but noticed that a new “accept your assignment” button is on the portal, so I am guessing soon. Maybe end of today since it’s Friday and they won’t need to answer complaints right away?
they say that appeals come out today
D24 got admitted for Fall 2024 after appealing! We are all SHOCKED as I was told appeals were pretty unlikely. Not a legacy (both parents are UC grads) but my sister-in-law earned her PhD from USC and DD included a photo of herself wearing her aunt’s USC grad gown (when she was 7). We’re joking the cute photo is what persuaded SC to admit her…
Same! And one day after getting off the UCLA waitlist. On Cloud 9 over here. We were happy with where she committed, but these are her dream schools.
Friends daughter got Fall admit after originally offered spring. She’s very excited
Hello! Is anyone else having trouble accessing their FAST Portal? I keep getting an error message
Yes, I have not been able to access it since Saturday evening.
My daughter’s bff did too! Biology.
Same Biology.

Need advice about dorms, not sure if there is a separate blog about dorms?
Anyway my son got little disappointed as he got assigned to McCarthy loft type room.
I know it’s pretty tiny. So the question is whether we should keep it for the sake of McCarty status or try to relocate some place else? Mind that he is 6.2 feet and close to 200 pounds and the 1st thing he said that this thing will come crashing down on his first night. Any advice will be very helpful.
Lots of advantages to living in McCarthy—early move-in, McCarthy retreat, AC, among others. The lofts are small but the beds are sturdy (it’s not going to come crashing down). Another thing to consider—McCarthy freshmen are eligible to live in Ilium (sophomore honors apartments) the following year but ONLY if they lived in McCarthy their freshman year. Ilium is very nice, in the Village as well. A pretty much guaranteed spot in Ilium is a great perk since sophomore housing is tight and, depending on their lottery number, they might not have great choices.
Got ours on Monday
There is a reassignment process if you aren’t happy. Someone told us there is a decent amount of movement in McCarthy because of people not happy with roommates/etc. I would call housing. They are really helpful.
Yes we spoke to the housing and they will try to accommodate relocation. He still needs to file relocation request on 5/30 at 9 am and put 3 choices ( all in McCarthy if he wants to stay in there).
Wondering if the relocation log in is as crazy busy as initial dorm bookings? It took us 40 min from two computers to get in back in February……
Do you know if the beds in McCarthy lofts are xl long?
Someone said that in other buildings yes, but not in McCarthy lofts. I’m trying to confirm that before getting on reassignment process.
Hello! I have received my FA package from USC, and I was wondering… if I choose not to accept their housing offer plus other additional costs (which amount to about $10,000), will my overall Gift Aid be decreased?
I thought the housing was mandatory for first year?
Plus any gift aid is reduction of tuition only.
Unless you are Mork or other type of scholarship that cover full ride.
