Will Marshall have the EA option as well or replaced by ED. Is it still a pilot?
Agree. She should be proud she got in. My kid had all the stats too (36 ACT, valedictorian, a whole bunch of 5s, great ECs, etc.) and he got deferred in EA. It happens…Can’t be too confident or emotional in this challenging college process. However, I do understand the challenge that this changes the affordability/math significantly - and you’ve had months to think about a great scholarship to now have the idea now wiped away. Maybe they should have notified candidates about the shift in advance (if there is indeed a shift) as they did with the NMF scholarships?
We went to the Marshall info section on 3/7 and was told the business admin major has all 3 cycles for 25/26, ED, EA and RD. But they don’t know how many admits will be allocated to each round, because this will the first trial without historical data, probably depends on how many applicants in ED/EA/RD.
There’s no downside to applying EA. In addition, your child can only receive merit aid if applying EA. Given the stats you listed, I would say to go for it.
Hello everyone, anyone had any luck getting an acknowledgment from their assigned USC counselor? I sent an update a few weeks ago and never heard back with an acknowledgement. I sent the same update to other colleges like NYU, UMich etc. and got an email back from the counselor with an acknowledgment and letting me know if the update was added to the admissions file.
Wondering if others have had better luck.
My kid also received the director scholarship. Good luck to everyone with RD.
EA, no question. Go for the merit and early acceptance. Good luck and Fight On! ![]()
If there is one thing that is consistent at USC over the last decade, it is the inconsistency of USC counselors before people are admitted. Once in, they are amazing, the sw systems the students use are insanely great, but during the app process, while some counselors are responsive, there’s quite a few that are just not. Other schools are great at this, USC, not so much. Some things never change as they say.
We had one we met on a visit a few years ago (when you could do interviews/visits) and omg the arrogance that filled the room within her attitude almost kept one of mine from wanting to attend. Luckily she moved into another role!
So yes, what you are experiencing - while it shouldn’t be that way - does happen there. If you can’t see/don’t have access to the update in your file you can call admissions and have them look and see if the update was made. May have to hold a bit, but in general those folks are very patient, kind, and willing to help. Good luck!
heyy! i was wondering if anyone here applied for ntsaf and had also gotten the interview for the scholarship program! i got the interview and they said that the results would come out late march, so im assuming it would be after usc’s decision day. but i was wondering if getting to the interview round and being considered for the scholarship would significantly help me and would it seem more likely for me to then be accepted to usc! thanks!
All scholarships were announced to the recipients.
this wasn’t for ea, i got deferred, but i had the interview two weeks ago, so it’s out already?
No; I meant all the EA folks were notified. Deferred students typically aren’t eligible for scholarships unless NMF and have USC as the identified school.
As everyone has indicated, there’s no downside to applying EA at USC. You are not committed as you would if it was ED, USC has historically deferred everyone who is not accepted early at USC, and you become eligible for merit scholarships. Moreover, if you do get in early, you will know likely in January, relieving a lot of anxiety. Now applying to Marshall or Leventhal ED is a different story. That has a lot of implications including the $100,000/year price tag.
i understand that most students primarily only get scholarships if they were admitted ea, but the norman topping scholarship interview i had was after i had gotten deferred and was around two weeks ago. they had mentioned they were going to let us know if we got the scholarship in late march so i was wondering if anyone had gotten that notification and if getting the interview was a good and possible sign of acceptance to usc
I would think so.. you should be in
i can only hope!
i can only hope!
Is there any information out there on how many students are offered Spring admit, and how many students are offered Trojan Transfer program? I’m assuming that those numbers are not included in the acceptance rate?
