My DC didn’t get it, but it went to a parent email. It came from the USC admissions blog and the email that received it subscribes. It didn’t come from admissions.
I am waiting until after the decision on Friday to send in the sensitive financials.
Pretty sure it just went to people who signed up for the blog…I wouldn’t worry at all!
I will never understand how the mid to upper-mid class family that doesn’t receive FAFSA can afford a USC or equivalent without merit/scholarship. You end up with the very rich, the poor, and a few in between…
Okay, my D has been receiving the blog emails since she signed up months ago
Not true. The school has generous matching gift aid based on need. Not just scholarships
I did not get that
My son didn’t get it but I’m 99% sure it’s because he didn’t sign up for the blog. Definitely wouldn’t give it any thought!
My daughter got that email yesterday. Heart sunk.
Today is the big day - good luck, everyone! It all works out!!
Any idea what time?
@CADREAMIN is the expert. I think it has been around 4 pm the past couple of years.
USC is a full meet need school that gives generous institutional grants as financial aid. There are many middle class students at USC.
Just to add the context that for the vast majority of applicants, today will be uneventful – just an email saying you’ll find out in march. Today is really only a big day if you are one of the very few getting in early. Most don’t and most of next year’s class will NOT get big news today. So don’t feel stressed at all if you just get the “see ya in march with a decision” email. :).
As in, there’s no need to check the portal? Do admitted students also get an email?
According to their communication they are admitting 3500 today out of 41000 EA applicants and assuming they get 82500 total applicants like last year they will admit an additional 5000 out of remaining 79000 applicants in march.
I think it is debatable if today is a big day or not.
I’m not sure what you mean by many, but according to the 23/24 CDS, about 41% of USC students have financial need. So…nearly 60% don’t.
In Fall 2023 22% of students received a Pell grant. So that would leave around 20% of the enrolled students as middle class. Though, caveat, I’m not sure where the line is between Pell and middle class, or even if some Pell receiving students are middle class.
If I recall correctly, my daughter just got an email with something like “an update on your application” which then told her she was being considered still and would hear in March. That said, she told me about it; I didn’t see it myself (as she was in boarding school so in a different state and I don’t have access to her email or portals). Maybe her portal also had some kind of update? If so, she never mentioned it as a portal update but rather an email update.
I can’t comment on what the early admits see since my daughter was admitted in March, not January. :).
is everyones withdraw gone?
Mine is gone
