USC Class of 2030 — Regular & Early Action Decisions

I did. Don’t remember it asking permission to pull taxes though. Almost all colleges asked for 24 taxes

Financial aid and admissions office are completely separate, aid applications start to process for anyone. Do not treat it as a sign. Multiple students in the past have been denied/accepted with different aid emails.

They are completely separate up until final packaging. Institutions do not have the resources to go through the same process for all of the thousands of applications.

We received an email that the portal had changed on March 11, but I did see it immediately. Now it looks like a company named Halcyon will email and request permission to access the IRS files. Does everyone get this notification? At this late date, I don’t know why it would be activated for all or be part of some random audit. Yes, the processes are separate until an admissions decision has been reached, but then it defies logic to think that they remain separate and that FA runs in depth package analysis for thousands of applications in mid-March. If everyone received this update to the portal, then that would tell if it is automated, but then to what purpose, and who approved that contract? :joy: We’ll see!

Nothing here. I agree it remains separate until it doesn’t, lol. I suspect it’s a good sign for you.

I appreciate the validation of my reasoning. As the Yogi Berra saying goes, “it ain’t over til it’s over,” but we do seek understanding throughout!

Yes I got that emai also a week or more ago. Halcyon wanted permission to pull taxes from irs. Called usc and they said yes they are using them for the first time so I granted them access. FYI, UCLA comes out today at 3pm pacific I believe

Historically, I think it’s around 5pm PDT

Good to know. I received the portal email about a new requirement, then the FA email about Halycon this week. Called and they said the same thing. Now waiting for the Halycon email. The FA office said it could take a few days, but we’re getting close to the finish line.  D26 applied back in Dec for a major that has no other decision options, so it has been a long process. Deep breaths and lots of dog walks!

wait is there any portal astrology

There has been in the past if you look at the previous admissions cycles. It’s a bit of a rabbit hole, especially about the financial aid stuff. Good luck!

In Jan. USC requested a supplemental tax form. Then was deferred in EA.

Currently FAST shows a double entry under Application in Review. One of which says Financial aid summaries will be released starting in early April.

Does everyone have this double entry?

Yes, same double entry, but have not receive tax doc request since Jan. :frowning:
If you click that “required information and forms” link, you can see what they had received.

This is a new request. We have “additional documents required.” Who knows. I think the issue is that it is a unique system outside of the regular IDOC one, which causes some confusion. Only 4 more days!
