yasir- I am innocent. I prefer my middle name though. My dad’s ego is stamped on me forever, lol. He said just in case I get married, I’m still connected to his family. WEIRD.

No one in my family takes me too seriously, lol. I’m the least “gangsta” in the bunch. :p

yasir - Preppy? Me?! Never. In fact, I DETEST Abercrombie, who I think are the epitome of prep, and have boycotted all of their stores. (Edit: I didn’t boycott them because they’re preppy, lol. More so because of their hiring prejudices) And Walmart too, but that’s another story. I’m more liberal/Bay Area cough Cal but my love for USC transcends all. Oh, and no one talk to me about Abercrombie or Walmart please, or I’ll get in trouble for going off-topic.

ksbr27 - haha, I somehow slipped into my essays that I was a redhead. I think I mentioned that with USC colors in my DNA I was basically born to be a Trojan. Sounds a bit desperate and silly, but, come on!

I noticed that no one has been admitted to the school of cinema yet. I hope this means there’s plenty of room for me.

Also, any stats on how many people apply NOT from California? I heard that there were more out of state applicants than in state, but I wonder what kind of demographic they look for with transfers. Hmm.

radredhead-hahaha see, my red hair is dyed, but i’ve been dying it red for close to two years now…i’m a natural gasp blonde! but still, it’s Trojan Red, so it would be the ULTIMATE in trojan spirit on your SCA question, i believe lastofthepirates has had a decision mailed from SCA, but i am not sure on the major. i will do a bit of research for you…

I think my long essay was super awesome, but I reread it and noticed a typo and a small grammar error. I’m scared that they’ll hold that against me

While I did sound a little desperate, I hope the admission people have a sense of humor. If not, I am so ****ed.

ksbr27 - Oh no, dyed hair! I’m not sure if I can live with that. Just kidding. . . you really found a color called Trojan Red? That’s really awesome; I love your Trojan spirit! I didn’t realize someone got into SCA. I think I saw an old list of accepted people (ahhh, I can’t believe people were already accepted!). Oh well, DADA is one of the lesser applied to majors in SCA . . . which I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

hey rad:
OK, here is the SCA breakdown so far for our little group of trojan crazies:

pdsage10-accepted, SCA (production)
lastofthepirates-decision mailed [has not received it yet on east coast], SCA (production?)

oh, and my hair is actually not called ‘trojan red’ it’s a custom color my stylist came up that is of the burgundy/cranberry region with but it closely resembles the cardinal red in the USC logo :D

Production was my second choice, but I mostly selected it for the sake of getting into USC. I heard it’s also possible to get into SCA and not USC, or vise versa. I really don’t know if I should go if the former happens.

Have your stylist bottle the color and patent the name. They can then sell it all over USC in the little bookstore things.

mapletree-Oh. My extended family says I want to go there because the neighborhood will feel just like my hometown, LOL. I was only born there though, my family lived in L.A. & its a random, funny story.

rad: i have heard of stories of people getting into the individual schools and not getting into USC, but honestly i’m not sure how many overturns there are. i know with a few other universities (i.e. elon in north carolina), if they want you badly enough for music theatre (or any other school inside the main university), they will literally tell admissions that they want you and that they need to LOOK AGAIN.

when i first started at my CCC i was a film major emphasizing in critical studies for the CS program, and then i changed to music, and was then forced to change to french but i put theatre as my second option. honestly, i just wanna be a trojan! :P

While they’re far from perfect, the rankings indicate more than nothing. Better than say, asking your friends what colleges they think are good. Lack of scope is a problem in evaluating colleges, so rankings try and ameliorate that.
