USC Film School: Spring Start

The incredible news: my big school senior got into USC’s SCA.

The not so great news: he was admitted as a Spring 25 student and accepted for the BA in Film/Cinema Studies, the BFA Film Production program he was really hoping for.

Wondering two things: is the transition to campus in the spring too tough? Also, what is the possibility of changing majors once at USC?

He’s also in at LMU, Emerson, DePaul, Columbia College Chicago and UWM, so he’s got lots of good options aside from USC.

Thanks so much!

*high school senior, not big school senior. Good lord, it’s been a rollercoaster of a weekend.

Is USC affordable? My very good friend’s daughter was a spring admit. USC allowed her to take community college classes the semester before she went to USC. It worked out well for her because she worked a little, and took a course.

Apparently they have a huge spring admit class and she had no problems transitioning into the school.

It is an issue with the return on your investment because USC is about $90,000 a year.

'SC has a lot of Spring admits and transfers, so the big thing one misses is fall football and early Greek involvement, if that is of any interest.

Indeed.

Have no knowledge on transferring. Can he attend admission days and ask?

Congrats on his admittance!

It has been awhile since I had a student at USC but I remember at the time that they have quite a few students that are spring start.

You might see if they have a USC Facebook Parent group for spring start as it seems we got really good information from USC parent groups on Facebook.
