<p>Hello, I am a junior, and I want to know if I could go to those ^ schools.
GPA: 3.5, 3.67, 3.67, 3.83, 4.0 (3.73 overall)unweighted from 10th to 12th (1st semesteris really easy at our school so assuming that I will get straight A’s)
Weighted is about 4.14. (4APs and 4 Honors classes) because my school only offers 10 APs even though its on top 100 best high schools in the US</p>
<p>I took 4 APs (Chemistry 4, Calc AB 5, Econ 5, Stats 5)
I took ACT 34,26, 35, 30 (31 overall)
SATII’s : Korean 800, MathII 750, Chem 700, World History: 730</p>
<p>I am currently in ASB, and got elected for ASB treasurer.
I was in ELD in my freshman year.
I have founded my own club, and currently president.
I also founded an organization helping children in Africa.
I am in FBLA, an officer, and I help a computer company with getting more customers (marketing head) 2 hours a week
I want to major in business or economics</p>
<p>I really want to go to those colleges, but I think my GPA is not good enough 
please tell me what my chances are!!!

<p>Retake the ACT to improve your chances. Your GPA may be enough for Grinnell, USC, and maybe Vassar. Reach for Pomona and CMC.</p>
<p>Google the Common Data Set for each school to see how your grades and test scores compare to the admitted students.</p>
<p>Of those listed, only at Grinnell (because it’s the midwest) are you considered a URM (assuming that you are of Korean ancestry - a guess based on your SAT II). And only Grinnell offers purely merit aid without financial need - although I’m not sure if you would qualify with an ACT of 31. Ask, because they are quite transparent about the criteria.</p>
<p>If you are male, your chances at Vassar are significantly better than the Common Data Set would indicate because of the imbalance between male and female applicants. Many LACs have a slight imbalance but at Vassar it’s somewhat greater. </p>
<p>Is there any particular reason why USC is on this list? The others are all LACs and have a great deal in common, as a result. Also, you need a safety or two to add to this list.</p>
<p>I am applying to USC because my cousin goes there and he tells me how wonderful the college is. Also, my parents want me to go to USC, so i just want to apply.
And for safety, I am going to apply to Santa Clara University, Reed College, Occidental College. I think I can get into these colleges… what do you think???</p>
<p>Reed isn’t a safety - and this school has a very strong and unique personality which would appeal to a certain type of person. Generally not someone who would love USC. You might want to look into it a bit more.</p>
<p>What about these two colleges??? Do I have a high chance of getting into these colleges?? I am applying to 10 schools including these 2 UC’s (in state)… so that I can have more choice depending on how much financial aid i get from colleges.</p>

<p>You should get into Oxy and Santa Clara. Also, I think Grinnell is a good bet because you are from Cal and they like students far away. Grinnell is also a very good LAC (underrated only because it is a challenge to get kids to Iowa) and has a huge endowment. </p>
<p>I agree with M’s Mom, the difference between Reed and USC is huge (ie country club v. commune). Of the two, I much prefer Reed, where you will get an awesome classical education. A few more ideas if you like Reed, think about Oberlin and UChicago. UChicago especially might be a decent reach for you as they look way beyond grades and tests cores and focus a lot on essays. My son got in with scores about like yours (although a higher GPA)</p>

<p>Yes and yes re getting into UC Davis and UC San Diego (the latter especially is a very nice school with some common characteristics as Grinnell).</p>
