USC Incorrect Housing Option

So, I accidentally put my housing preferences as “at home”, while I actually intend to live on campus. I called in and spoke to a USC employee who told me that if I was to change my housing options, only my grants would be increased and my loans would remain the same. Therefore, I would expect the pay the same regardless of my housing decision as long as I submitted an appeal. How often are housing appeals rejected? so is it true that my loans would remain the same (I’m skeptical about having to pay more money than I intended) ?

Background Information:
After scholarships (both merit and need-based), I am expected to pay around $3000 a year.

+MIT, you state in the above post that you are expected to pay about $3,000/year, yet in this thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/910432-usc-odd-financial-aid-package.html#post1064645019</a> you say that your USC financial aid package was “by far the worst package” you received.

If your package has been updated, please go back to that thread and correct the erroneous information you posted there.

Once you have made that correction, I will be happy to address your current question.

Thank you.
