So, I accidentally put my housing preferences as “at home”, while I actually intend to live on campus. I called in and spoke to a USC employee who told me that if I was to change my housing options, only my grants would be increased and my loans would remain the same. Therefore, I would expect the pay the same regardless of my housing decision as long as I submitted an appeal. How often are housing appeals rejected? so is it true that my loans would remain the same (I’m skeptical about having to pay more money than I intended) ?

Background Information:
After scholarships (both merit and need-based), I am expected to pay around $3000 a year.
