USC kid all my life, then rejected, now admitted, what do i do?

USC was my reason for going to high school everyday; I was determined to attend and be the best trojan i could be. My whole family went there. I loved the campus. Then i was rejected (i got over it pretty fast). So i enrolled at UCLA. I just got a call today saying that i was in for spring semester, the only catch is that i am already enrolled at UCLA and went to orientation and everything. I really came to like UCLA, since i assumed i would be there for the next few years, but now i have a choice…

WHAT DO I DO? Money is sort of a problem (USC is twice as much), USC has the majors and minors i want

PLEASE HELP with any advice or information, specifically people who turned down USC for UCLA and vice versa. thanks (fight on, go bruins)

stay at UCLA

UCLA - definitely

Do Even Think About Usc. Just Stay In Ucla. You Don’t Wanna Pay Twice As Much $ For 4yrs Plus Ucla Is Really A Great School

What’s your major?
If money is indeed a problem, why didn’t USC offer you any financial aid?

Call USC and ask them what can you do. If you really want to go to USC, then go there. Because if you don’t, you will hate your next 4 years and not enjoy college at all, because somewhere in your mind you’ll be thinking that you could’ve gone to USC. So, call both colleges and ask what options you have.

i was never granted financial aid before because i wasnt admitted, so i would have to call them and see what they could offer.

my major ideally is business, UCLA doesnt offer a business major for undergrad

lyrical- good point, i know that whatever i choose i will always reflect on “what could have been”, but i feel that USC would cause more regret because i have wanted to go there for so long

if usc is your dream, chase it

mentos24, i advise you to visit each school again, talk to the fin aid people at USC, then sit down and think about the debt that you probalby will acquire is worth the business major and whatever minor (usc gives these away like penny candy), and it may very well, in your thoughts and feelings, be worth it. If money is so big a problem that you cannot go to usc, then UCLA. If not, you hve to see if your want for USC is worth, to you, the debt you will rack up by going to USC. I wish you the best of luck in this difficult situation.

University of Spoiled Children. I’m sure it was a more normal place when your family attended. The world has changed and UCLA reflects much more closely the world you’ll face when you graduate. UCLA is a great school, many highly rated programs, safer campus, more diverse.

ucla’s biz-econ is wonderful and well-respected (but hard to get into), so major shouldn’t be a big issue unless you want accounting.

Do call SC and see if you can get some money out of them, and then make the decision. But, I would not take on much debt to go there – it’s a fine school, but not worth $20k/yr extra in loans over UCLA.

oib1, if USC is the University of Spoiled Children please tell me why over 60% of students receive need-based financial assistance?

Stay at UCLA and change your family history.

Go to the best school for the best price…in this case UCLA. Go Bruins!

In that case, I would stay at UCLA for its BizEcon program, as well as its lower tuition.

USC has an equally if not safer campus than ucla. Once you step off, however, usc is relatively worse.

When do you have to commit (or do you have to commit) to USC? Why not get started at UCLA as planned and see if, after you’re there, you even want to move to USC?

UCLA has an awfully strong reputation, academically, across the country. Much stronger than USC’s imho.

Also check this thread and see if it helps you:http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=51596

i dont have to commit too soon, but the housing application says to send it back as quick as possible to get housing

go with what feels right… of course, make sure you get the necessities if you’re going to pick USC, cuz having no housing and a bad financial aid package would suck.

btw, many would argue that recruiters treat ucla bizecon majors and usc bizadmin majors about the same. so you probably won’t go wrong with either one.

personally, i think there’s some situations in life that come unexpected but have better outcomes than we initially hoped for because of initial disappointment. perhaps this is one of them?

(GO BRUINS!)

Don’t worry about where you wanted to go; worry about where you want to go now. I bet it is UCLA or you wouldn’t even be asking about it.
