given ur low gpa, the ivies r hard…

lol… with that GPA, even ur SAT score cant make up for it, the only schools u see u getting into are the Mid UC’s

Sisters don’t count as legacies man.

Do you go to Hotchkiss, Groton, Andover, Exeter, or anything like that? Because if you do, then I would definitely understand that SAT-GPA combination. Anyway, just try your best; they want to know that you can survive at their universities, contribute to campus spirit, graduate, and become successful.

P.S. Stop calling schools “lower Ivies”, especially when you would give your right arm to get accepted by them.

yeah… gpa really killed me. does anyone know what else i can do to help make up for it?

and @ Lobzz

i meant lower ivies not in a degrading way, but i rather in comparison to HYPS which are pretty much a dream for everyone

The only thing that could bring your GPA up is if you get a 100 in all of your classes.

Ivies

Brown-Mt Everest Reach
Dartmouth- Mt Everest Reach
Columbia-Very high reach
Cornell- High reach

But what is your “Extremely competitive” IB/Tech School? Stuyvesant or Bronx high school of science?

Unfortunately, your GPA is pretty low. Your SAT score is great, and that will get you into a mid-high UC or USC but it is far too low for the ivies. Sorry for being so harsh, but 3.2 is a little bit too low.

USC- match/reach

UCLA-match

UC Irvine / UC San Diego- match

UC Berkeley-reach

NYU-match

Columbia-super reach

Northwestern-reach

Cornell- reach

Boston College- reach

Brown- super reach

UC Riverside / UC Santa Barbara- match

Pepperdine University- match

Boston University- match

I go to Troy High School in Fullerton. (but please don’t stalk me haha.)
It’s not Stuyvesant level but believe me it is extremely challenging. I’ve seen the work of students from other schools have to do and it’s ridiculously different from ours. My friend who really isn’t the brightest crayon in the box (got a 1850 after a summer of sat prep) is in 5 AP’s junior year at her school in Chino Hills and I think she has like 4 A’s and a B in those classes
troy’s grade deflation :((

thanks for the chancing though it pretty much matches all the feedback i’ve gotten.
realistically i think I’d prefer going to a mid-to-high UC or USC, though.
can’t beat this cali weather

obviously ur SAT is beast. however, a GPA is still a GPA. Keep working on demonstrating your academic ability outside of class. (acadec is an excellent one). UCs tend to be stat based so hopefully that 2300 outweighs or at least offsets that GPA. also be sure to sell your writing ability (landing that OC register spot would be very helpful).

USC- high match

UCLA- high match

UC Irvine / UC San Diego- match/low reach

UC Berkeley- high reach

NYU- N/A

Columbia - N/A

Northwestern - N/A

Cornell- high reach

Boston College- low reacg

Brown- high reach

UC Riverside / UC Santa Barbara- match/match

Pepperdine University- low match

Boston University- match

Your GPA is the only thing that’s stopping you. You’ll get into a few of the UCs, hopefully.

[Chance back?](<a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/880475-chance-me-top-schools-questions-too-because-special-circumstance.html"]Chance”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/880475-chance-me-top-schools-questions-too-because-special-circumstance.html)

If you do really well (4/5) on all the AP’s you’re in now it could take a little pressure off your GPA. Colleges will see that you know the material that way, otherwise you still have a year, just do the best you can to bring it up.

USC- high match

UCLA- match

UC Irvine / UC San Diego- match

UC Berkeley- reach

NYU- high match

Columbia - high reach

Northwestern - high match

Cornell- reach

Boston College- low reach

Brown- high reach

UC Riverside / UC Santa Barbara- low match/ low match

Pepperdine University- IN

Boston University- low match

Hey, I really am impressed about your standard test score…2300 SAT with 1550 R+M? It really shows your reasoning power. However, GPA is the thing that drags you away from some ivies. I strongly recommend pouring a lot of effort to your GPA. Move it up to at least 3.5 UW.

Please chance back.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/880286-chance-me-please-i-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

That GPA is really an eyesore, good luck applying to Northwestern and Ivies, maybe you’ll get in off the waitlist if you’re lucky!
