Hi guys! I got accepted to UCSD for mathematics-computer science and to the Viterbi School of Enigeering at USC for Business and Computer Science. I’m having a difficult time deciding between the two and would appreciate feedback on these schools. I’m really interested in eventually working at Disney or Pixar, product management, web development, or something along the visual/tech/business lines.
Thanks for the help!
If your dream is to work for Disney or Pixar I would definitely pick USC for all of their film industry connections. Also I have heard mixed reviews of the social life at UCSD - one kid who enjoyed it and lived in a frat, others who haven’t fared so well socially there. Some majors are impacted at UCSD (don’t know about USC) and though I assume you were admitted to the major you mention, how crowded/difficult will it be to complete your coursework in 4 years? Also it is more difficult to be admitted to USC than UCSD (from what I’m hearing about my son’s friends) and I suppose some employers may value that (although your ability to “shine” and flourish at a school and get your best grades is important; an overly-competitive environment can be hard to live with unless you relish that kind of challenge). Bottom line though is which school offers the teachers and classes that most interest you. UCSD definitely has the nicer campus location!
