USC Public Policy School of Partner with New Smith National Library at Mount Vernon

<p>USC’s Price School of Public Policy will partner with the Fred Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon. The new library is located near the entrance to Washington’s Virginia estate. Smith Library and USC have established the Partnership for the Study of George Washington at USC and Mount Vernon. Supporting the collaboration is a gift from Maribeth Borthwick '73 and William Borthwick. Also included in the gift is support for the Second Year Inquiry Program at the USC Dornsife College for Letters, Arts and Sciences.</p>

<p>An annual bicoastal lecture series will be the first component of the new partnership, the Borthwick Lecture Series on George Washington. The inaugural lecture will be by Dr. Kevin Starr, USC University Professor and California State Librarian Emeritus. Dr. Starr is the holder of the National Medal of the Arts. </p>

<p>The collaboration will include opportunities for student and faculty research at Mt. Vernon and study of Washington’s leadership and presidential legacy.</p>
