Any other SCA film admits from the Northwest? Oregon here…

@CAtransplant Congratulations to your D! So happy for your family and the families of all the other admits.

Thanks so much, @romns116 !!

CA, Rejected, so absolutely crushed. Absolutely lost on my future and what I want to do now. Good job everyone else!

@CindyLeuWho So sorry to hear that. Was pulling for you. What are your options?

@CindyLeuWho Absolutely heartbroken for you. I’ve been following your hopes on these threads. Please don’t give up. Transferring into USC is a real possibility. If your dream is film/tv production - work on your film sample, your experience/resume etc. Maybe get your GE’s done at a CC and try again! Don’t give up! It’s what my DD was going to do if she didn’t get in to any film school. Best of luck to you!!

@WWWard and @VivienL
Thank you so much for such underserving kind words and encouragement. It’s upsetting because I thought this would be my rainbow at the end of the storm. I was really hoping to not have to transfer since this process was so stressful this year that it would kill me to do it again, but I may depending how next year goes. I will be writing an appeal letter though.
My Stats weren’t so good I know that: 6 APs (not many offered at my school), 1390 SAT (didn’t have time to study since my school has very hard classes), and 4.1 GPA, not straight A’s.
I have done over 30 film projects and have many EC’s including a Spanish immersion camp, archeology dig at an native reservation (both which relate to my heritage), 200+ Volunteer hours at the zoo, and much more that I won’t tangent into.
My film submission was the progression of a relationship through the top of a dinning room table, and I was so proud of it, but I guess it wan’t enough.

Accepted: Cal Humbolt, San Diego State U, Fordham, LMU, Emerson, Cal Long Beach, Cal Fullerton, Cal Northridge, UCSC, UCR, UCD, Syracuse, UCSD, Boston U, UC Berkley
Rejected: UCLA, UCI, USC
Waitlisted: UCSB, Chapman, Columbia, Vassar
Waiting: NYU

Chapman was my top but then I was waitlisted off of EA (it still is my top but I’m doubting the chances of getting off the WL), and I didn’t even think about applying to USC till this year because I had this notion that USC was mean spirited place, but then I went to 5 separate school visits for USC and fell in love with SCA and knew I was wrong. I want to make films everyday from now on and get a professional understanding of how to represent myself as a creator, and USC was the only school that really ensured that.

I don’t even know why I applied to so many schools, especially schools I don’t even want to go to…I guess I just doubted myself so much of getting into anything. I am not trying to sound ungrateful, I am extremely grateful, but I don’t want to just go through the motions at another school that I don’t fit in to (High school has been dreadful).

Yes I can go to CC or attend a Cal state school then transfer, but I’m not that kind of person (I need a campus and a real college experience which will drive me to work even harder). It’s hard to explain. I really need to take the time to reconsider my future plans.

Thanks everyone! And congrats to everyone who had their dreams come true!
Looks like I was the rule all along, not the exception.

@CindyLeuWho I’m glad to hear that you have a # of solid options. Please let us know what you decide on. Good luck reaching that decision.

@CindyLeuWho I had no idea you were accepted to so many great schools! Look, LMU (if you got into their film/tv program) is SO reputable, and their alumni network is off the charts. I know so many people who have gone right into the industry after graduation because of their network of alumni! Also, Chapman - don’t give up hope their either. To be honest, my DD is struggling between the two choices. She LOVES Chapman. The program, the campus, the surrounding area. Make sure you email your continued interest to the Dean and maybe you’ll get off that WL! Not everyone accepted will accept the spot! Fullerton is another good film/tv program…if you want a place that isn’t as pricey as some of these universities. So you do have choices! Hurrah!! It’s been a tough year for so many. Hang in there!
