USC Scientist Wins Life Achievement Gold Medal

<p>Dr. Richard Thompson, a USC behavioral neuroscientist, has won the American Psychological Foundation 2010 Gold Medal Award for Life Achievement in the Science of Psychology.</p>

<p>His main interest has been the physical basis of memory. He was the first to identify and map neural circuits involved in classical conditioning. </p>

<p>Dr. Thompson is also a member of the National Academy of Science and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.</p>

<p>The foundation only gives one such award a year.</p>
