USC Status Update

cdr777-I believe that I received the letter last Friday (Feb 5th) and my friend also received the letter then as well. As for the financial aid brochure, which financial aid brochure are you talking about? I received one brochure a while ago (it has pictures and such). I can’t remember exactly when, but it must have been a few weeks ago. I think I also got some other financial aid thing in the mail at some point. Just let me know which one you’re talking about, and I can go look for it and see if I can figure out when I got it.

Hopefully, the reason why you haven’t gotten a letter is not because it got lost. I can’t say that I’ve had mail problems, but even if your letter ended up in the wrong place, shouldn’t you have still gotten it by now, if I got it a week ago? And, I know the whole meanings behind the status updates are still iffy, but I doubt its a bad thing that you never had the preliminary status, while me and my friend, who both received letters, did. :)

The financial aid brochure I was talking about is the one that came with a letter addressed to the parents and a 20-something page brochure I think it was called like “Paying for College”. Would you mind PMing me your stats so we could compare?

We are in Northern California and still no letter. Statue changed from ‘preliminary’ to ‘forward’…

Is everyone who applied by Dec 1 supposed to receive either scholarship or the ‘no’ letter?

We have nothing so far???

Collegeproject, I don’t think so. I still haven’t received any letter, but then again, our mail service has been slightly crazy with the weather. :)

Ya I haven’t received my letter yet in NY, I got the financial aid brochure though last Saturday so a full week ago.

Does everyone have the forwarded status now?
I’m in MD and I also have yet to receive the letter.
Maybe it’s just for people who need to submit midyear reports, or is there a separate letter for that?

Wait EVERYONE has the “forwarded” status now?

Lol I thot I was special but perhaps not…

I still have preliminary. But as I and many others have said before, we can only speculate what any of them mean, except for “the committee has acted.”

mine is still on “preliminary” :(

I think it’s true that the statuses mean nothing. I feel a little silly checking mine all the time.

DD’s application was on “we’ve completed a preliminary review” for a LONG time - and it just changed to “forwarded to the committee.” Maybe that’s progress? She also just found out this am that she got accepted to Cal Poly Business so that’s exciting.

Went from ‘prelimary’ to ‘completed initial review, now we want to see midyear grades’. This was a week or so ago. The midyear grades were already submitted back in mid Jan. Received letter yesterday also asking to submit mid year grades.

Okay, this is going to sound dumb, but how do I check my status? I haven’t really been keeping up with what’s going on with my application.

Thanks in advance.

Ahh okay, I found the link.

Does anyone have this “We received the fall grades we requested, and require no additional information at this time. We will mail decisions to freshman applicants by April 1st.”

if so, would you mind disclosing your fall grades?

^Ya that’s the message I have. My fall grades were actually real good. I got A’s in all 7 of my classes, 5 AP, 1 honors, 1 regular. Hopefully that can put me over the top cuz my letters of rec and essay were kinda weak.

I have the “we received the fall grades” status too… mine were pretty bad because I got a C in physics. I’m terrible at math… and I’m applying for film, so hopefully they’ll care less about my ability to do physics.

Has anybody applied on Feb 11 deadline? I did so and my status is still “We have received and are currently reviewing…” :(

I submitted my midyear grades just a few days ago… I got 4 A’s and 2 B’s, but of my six classes, 5 were AP’s (at a very large/competitive public high school)…they weren’t requested other than that little line or two at the end of the “no Presidential/Trustee” letter.

But just 2 days ago my status turned to “forwarded.” Have we reached a conclusion as to what “forwarded” might mean? Perhaps something good? :)

I applied by the December 1st deadline as a transfer(Screenwriting.) I still have the following message:

“Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2010)
We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.”
