USC Status Update

cool, how about the housing and i heard you guys have a cab system at night for students to get around campus.

Lol, I wish it was a cab service. It’s actually Campus Cruiser.

The housing isn’t so bad. Dorm style is interesting b/c you get to bond with your floor more often.

thementor5, yeah apparently. Not sure why they are contradicting themselves though…but as long as my rep was anwsering the question to the best of her ability, we should all be fine without a hardcopy of the report card.

campus crusier, sounds cool.

mine says:

We have completed a preliminary review of your application. We sometimes request additional information (senior-year grades, for example), so be sure to watch the mail. You may submit senior year grades at www.usc.edu/midyeargrades, even if we did not specifically request them. We are continuing to review applications and expect to mail notification of a decision by April 1st.

I just submitted my mid year grade, so i am surprised that they already reviewed
mine even before i submitted my mid year grade report.

The thing disturbing me is: why don’t they ask me to submit the mid year grade?

is it a bad sign?
wanna cryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

which one comes first: “forwarded” or “preliminary?”
mine has been on “preliminary” for a couple weeks but another girl i know is at “forwarded” is either one a better sign than the other?

@theresajhuffman forwarded came for the applicants who got accepted, but many are on preliminary. I was on preliminary and got changed to forwarded, and if this is a good or bad sign we can’t know for sure until second wave acceptances are setting out, but based on the general trend, my assumption is that the ‘forwarded’ status is better.

@yora8504 the fact that they don’t ask for your grades is a good thing. If they don’t ask for your grades this means that they’re able to decide based on what’s listed, and they wont reject you without asking for your grades, so they’re basically deciding whether or not to ask for your grades, and if they don’t, it means that you’re likely in, and if they do it means that they need you to boost your application in order to accept you.

^lightja i hope the forwarded status is better because I skipped the “preliminary review” and went from the original “reviewed by committee” to “forwarded for review”

Cdr777, what is the difference between “reviewed by committee” to “forwarded for review”? My son’s says “Your application has been forwarded for committee review.”
I wonder if it’s taking a long time because my son applied for Viterbi Engineering. He had to submit his mid-year report.

Before it was “forwarded for review” or “preliminary review” my status and a lot of others had a message that said something like “Your application is currently being reviewed by the admissions committee, notification of their decision will be mailed by April 1st”

Oh, I see. My son’s app is forwarded but not yet being reviewed. That doesn’t sound like a good sign. They are taking a long time.

Is the admission notification rolling for regular deciosion? I don’t see how its relevant if its not if they are going to release them on April 1.

^ It’s not, but generally only rejections are sent out April 1, Acceptances are sent out earlier

My status changed from the preliminary review one to this: “We have completed an initial review of your application and would like to see the results of the first term of your senior year.”
Anyone else have this?

same here askoh.
I’m probably going to send in the grades today (self reporting only)
cause from what mimizst’s USC rep said, they don’t need the hard copy stuff, just the self reporting.

My question is if all applied by dec 1st, scholarship rejects have the same status as we do?

Thementor5, I’m on forwarded to review. I’ve never been on prelim.

Mine was on “prelim” for quiiiiiiiiite some time, but just today it turned to “forwarded”!!!

I did, however, get that letter talking bout how I wasn’t in the running for Presidential/Trustee scholarships anymore.

But I submitted my mid-year grades just a few days ago, could this mean I’m up in the running for some sort of scholarship!?!

Never had the preliminary review went straight to forwarded for review similar to oxoljo, I never even received the no scholarship letter though it may be because I live in NY and it could have gotten lost in the mail though.

cdr777- I live in NY and I received the no scholarship letter. Of course, its possible that your letter got loss, or perhaps you are still in consideration for some kind of good scholarship? My status just changed to forwarded to committee for review from the preliminary review status. but if you never had the preliminary review status, maybe thats a really good thing.

^hello21 I hope that its a good thing I would be ecstatic to just be accepted but I’m nervous that there’s a good chance my letter got lost in the mail because recently my mail has been questionable- I’ve been receiving a lot of my neighbors mail recently and I’m afraid that the mailman may have lost my letter. Also when did you receive your letter and when did you receive the financial aid brochure if you applied for it.
