<p>I’m sure plenty of people will flame me for creating anther thread regarding USC transfer but it was necessary.</p>

<p>I don’t know ANY of the things people are talking about in there. I read all the posts and got very little out of it because it seemed everyone there was at a Cali school. </p>

<p>I’m a Freshman at Emerson College, a liberal arts school, majoring in Film production. I NEED to get into USC. I will be applying as a junior transfer (which means I will be starting my junior year of college at USC?). </p>

<p>I was looking at the USC School of Cinematic Arts page and it said</p>

<p>So basically 2 years of school at Emerson College and $80,000 is for nothing besides one or two classes?</p>

<p>How do I find out which are transferable credits? I asked my advisor at Emerson College and he told he doesn’t know. :frowning:
Is there someone I’m supposed to ask at USC?</p>

<p>If I haven’t fulfilled the GE requirements where can I do it? Is it something that MUST be done at USC during the summer? Or can I do it somewhere else? Do only certain schools give these courses?
Is it easy to do accomplish?</p>

<p>Also I can’t seem to find the PreReq’s people keep talking about. Aren’t PreReqs and GE the same thing?</p>

<p>I would like some insight because I really don’t know where to start. I’m the first to go to college and my parents don’t speak English so I have to do everything my self. I’m really stressed out right now trying to keep my GPA high so I can get into USC.</p>

<p>Relax, [ although you should know that any students chances of transferring into USC’s SCA are low. In fact current USC students have a hard time getting into the cinematic school if they decide they want to change their major.] Thre GE requirements are filled by classes taken at USC, or as stated above. I’m not sure what prereqs you are asking about ?The 4 courses you took should transfer. You WILL have to take a language placement test[ online] if you are accepted sometime in May or June, so don’t throw away your Spanish books yet. Did you take any AP classes in HS and score 4 or 5 on the AP Test? They can satisfy some of the core classes.
I think you need to broaden the # of schools you might apply to if you want to leave your current school. Chapman, also in LA, has a well respected cinema program.</p>

<p>To find out which classes at Emerson College transfer to USC you should check to see if there is an articulation agreement between the two. <p>I believe the articulation agreements are only for Calif colleges-community or 4 year.</p>

<p>@menloparkmom don’t get me wrong. I like my school. It’s just that the only school worth transferring to is USC.</p>

<p>I already have a connection in Hollywood for internships to upcoming Blockbusters.</p>

<p>The only school that can outdo what I have right now is USC.</p>

<p>Besides, attempting to transfer to USC also means my Grades won’t drop and keep me focused. Although I would REALLY like to get into USC.</p>

<p>Yes, that’s what it means, unless USC grants you transfer credit for classes taken in college that they feel satisfy a GE requirement, or in HS[ some AP Classes [ science] will satisfy a GE requirement]</p>

<p>My son is trying to transfer from Indiana University to USC, so we visited the school last summer and talked to the group that handles this stuff.</p>

<p>At this site (which applies to 4-year schools nationwide as well as California schools), you can find if anyone else ever transferred from Emerson to USC–and if so, which courses were accepted by USC.</p>

<p>Even if there is no history, that just means no one else tried it before–it doesn’t mean your classes won’t transfer. However, USC is real good at applying courses for elective credit and even for some of the gen ed requirments, but not very good at applying courses for credit in your major (as you can tell by what you’ve read already).</p>

<p>The best thing to do is to take all the required courses for admission–and the gen education courses they take early (I, II, III, and V), and the diversity course–and then plan to take the rest at USC if you have to. Sorry if that seems harsh–but it’s the rules they apply to everyone.</p>

<p>My own son has taken quite a few business and statistics courses that he will have to retake at USC (if he gets in)–or else use as elective credit–but that’s life, I guess. Maybe he can test out of one or two courses. It probably doesn’t matter, though, since he’ll still need to take 68 units to graduate–so I guess having to retake a few courses won’t matter. It’s probably the same for you, I presume.</p>

<p>What do you mean by required for admission? I thought Gen Eds are the required classes?
Could you clarify?</p>

<p>Gen Eds and the Diversity course are the suggested admission courses for the school (along with the Writing course which is a mandatory requirement), but certain majors have mandatory requirements and suggested requirements of their own.</p>

<p>For example, my son is applying for the Marshall School of Business. For Marshall, the mandatory requirements are Calculus, and two economics courses (micro and macro). Suggested courses for Marshall are two accounting courses (financial acct and managerial acct) and a statistics course. </p>

<p>Your major will determine some of what are absolute “mandatory” courses versus what are “suggested” courses.</p>

<p>Yes, from what I see on the website, there are no required courses for Cinema TV-Film except for the General Education, Diversity, and Writing course. Also, you can’t take the General Education IV and VI courses until you are at USC.</p>

<p>P.S. And I don’t know how many summer school courses you can take at USC (sorry).</p>
