for what semester are you planning to move in?

ya i got that email like several days ago. all it says is that theyre working on our housing and it wont be ready til like late november to late december.

el rey - i applied to parkside apartments, parkside suites, webb tower, and some other apartment complexes on campus. i dont know what ill get yet. my main thing though is that i wanna live in an apartment on campus. i dont wanna live in an off campus apartment because of usc’s lovely neighborhood and its crime rate

^ ditto.
i hope people get kicked out/graduate so i can get on campus hosuing or else iill be sleeping in my friends living room.

no man don worry theres still plenty of space. like go housing.usc.edu and when u check out the apartments individually (say parkside apartments, which is pks) it says for each type of room how much space is available.
for example for parkside apartments theres a type of apartment that theres still 256 spots available for

^ that’s how many spaces they have; not how many is availabe right now. btw lol at being scared of living off campus

dude i get emails everyday about crime alerts and stuff about how some guy was held at a gunpoint and forced into his apartment and tied up or some woman got beaten and mugged. not fun stuff. hell no do i wanna live off campus.

speaking of availability, imma call housing right now and see how much space they have left. ill let you all know.

So its really that bad around the area?

I mean, ive been there and the area surrounding it and i know its not the nicest but you’d think with all the students and things going on in the area that hardly any petty crimes would occur.

ive even walked around the area at night and seemed okay. there was heavy traffic at night, didnt seem like a place for students to actually be scared of the area.

i guess when i apply for housing febuary 1st or the fall 2007 term i should consider the on campus apartments.

(id still like a gym though)

The crime IS bad, make no mistake about it. Just don’t venture too far and be on the look out for suspicious looking people. I live pretty close to so i’m somewhat familiar with the place. Like any other big city, stay in student populated areas (certain nearby neighborhoods, frat row) and be wary of suspicious looking people.

El Rey, Request either Webb Tower or Cardinal Gardens. Both are very very close to the University Gym. :-)

Thanks for the advice. And i was actually meaning to ask: how is the university gym? Back in may i went with on a field trip to both USC and UCLA. I was partner’d with a gal who was in love with Ucla and kept trying to persuade me.

I was impressed by the ucla gym though with the state of the art stuff, the rock climbing wall and all… — - i never got a chance to see the USC gym so i was actually wondering how that was like. my friend at the Radisson said she attends the small gym in the hotel although ive never seen that one too. does the USC gym have a pool or anything?

There is a pool at the fitness center and the gym is a better now than it was (from what I’ve heard). USC also has rockclimbing and I think the fitness center is pretty nice. The ellipticals have personal tvs attached to them so u just plug your headphones in and watch anything you want on the tv while you work out. its AWESOME and new this year. I think the USC gym is fine.

sweet.

sounds nice.

WHOA!!!

I need to ask this!

This is my first semester in community college so here goes…

Are “-” and “+” tally’d in the GPA?

I mean, when checkin for my gpa i consider A=4 B=3 C=2 D=1

So far ive been calculating this semester as a 3.8 with
an

A
A
B
A
A

But if i consider the actually percentage which is

A+
A-
B
A-
A-

So does that 3.8gpa change??

the usc transfer manual even states that +/- grading is taken into consideration. only A+ is the grade that counts as a 4, just like an A. Other than that, A- is a 3.7, B+ is a 3.3, B is a 3.0, B- is a 2.7, C+ is a 2.3, C is a 2.0, C- is a 1.7, D+ is a 1.3 D is a 1.0 and you know the rest.

also another thing you have to take into consideration is the number of units the class is worth. a 5 unit class impacts your gpa much more than say a 3 unit class. its weighted with your grade and the number of units basically.

I have to get on the ball then.

el rey- you’re pretty much on the ball man- those grades are pretty ****ing solid.

i mean, you certianly have time to raise those A-'s up to solid A’s but If you ended the semester with the grades you have now that’d be more than awesome.

It looks like you have around a 3.6 GPA…provided none of those classes are those 1 credit classes

Thanks for the support and nice words. I dont know you guys’ stories but i have spent quite a few afternoons in front of my computer researching the whole Transferring to USC deal and want to feel confident about getting accepted so I wont be stressing and freaking out.

And my 5 classes total 18 units, this being my first semester in college. (Community).

English= 4 units …
Math 80a= 3 units …
Anthro= 3 units …
French= 5 units …
History= 3 units …

…And i guess to feel a little better about myself i’m slowly starting to build my personal statement page/summary.

I dont know if you guys are also prospective transfer as well or if you already got accepted into USC (if so, …lucky!) so perhaps you can give me a pointer or two as i head towards the journey. :-)

Thanks! -Milton.

…bump?
