Hey, well lemme ask you…since you got rejected that means you have to do another year at your community college…what classes are u taking? If they’re pre reqs for your major than i understand but only intro poli sci 100 is needed for me so if i dont get in it would seem that i would waste a year at my community college cause i wouldnt have an classes to take in my community college that would be neccesary.

Well, as a prospective transfer student, in my very 1st semester in community college…

do they look much at the ec’s and community service?

I did a good amount in high school but im planning on only being in community college for 2 semesters b4 i (wishingly) get accepted into USC.

So far in college i only have this to jot down…

philosophy club member
photography club member
film/tv member
model un club member
habitat for humanity volunteer
local library adult literacy helper/volunteer.

I’ll give you a little feedback, even though you are my competition.
They don’t look too much at EC’s.
Average GPA to be competitive is 3.5-3.6.
They stressed GPA during the transfer info session.
Little to no withdrawals (at the most 1)
Take a full-time course load (as opposed to 1 or 2 classes per semester)
High school record is not considered if you have at least 30 semester units.
Test scores are not needed if you have at least 30 semester units.
WRIT 130 is must!
A minimum of int. alg. is a must!
Complete any major pre-req’s…
Any additional classed should be used to complete GE’s, diversity, and foreign language requirements.
The writing part of the application should show that you are a good writer, but it doesn’t have to be a mindblowing essay…they’re mainly looking for syntax…
This info only applies to liberal arts…good luck

hey projekt, thanks for the feedback. are you going to be attending the usc fall open house in a week?

at my community college there was a usc councelour there but from the school of engineering. he did fill me in on the 3.5-3.6gpa…he mentioned that the school of engineering looks for gpa’s starting at 3.2, cause of the higher level math.

as for what you mentioned about getting as much done as i can now in college…i think im on the right track. the writing req. will be done, as well as the math. the diversity as well, including parts 1, 2, and 5. also 1 semester of the foreign language. speaking of which, i was adviced by usc to not continue my foreign language cause no matter what if i havent gotten to the 3rd level by the time of transferring, i would still have to take a placement test. im taking french 101 right now (which is tough for me but the prof is nice and i think im pulling an A in there) and even if i took french 102 in spring of 2007 i would still need to take the placement exam.

spanish is a 2nd language i know very well and i was adviced by usc to just wait to take that placement exam in spanish and possibly even test out of taking an foreign language classes.

So i think im doing good, with choosing poli sci and taking the pre req intro to poli sci in spring 2007.

*** i dont think you and i are competing here. if you are indeed heading to the open house, lemme know, we can meet up and devise a plan to ensure our survival into the usc system. :-)

sorry, this comment is not constructive at all but yay for the awesome post count!!! I remember posting on here back last year when I was applying as a transfer and it just keeps getting bigger! USC is the best - obviously lol.

Does anyone know anything about the school of Policy, Planning, and Development? How rigorous, admissions stats, how easy to be admitted? I’m applying there but the website gives very little info regarding pre-reqs and admissions info. Anyone have other suggestions on what I should do?

fresh prince: Are you gonna be attending the usc open house in a week? im sure they will answer all of your questions there. it might be the best chance to get everything on your mind sorted out.

Hmmm, i know as tranfer students we are not promised on campus housing but was recommended to sign up for it as soon as possible. is there a website where i can get more info on it and even sign up soon for it? if i remember correctly i think someone told me that jan. 1st, 2007 is the first day to begin signing up for usc housing…and i was told if i do it asap theres an 80% chance id get it.

but, website? info on it?

ALSO! 47,000 is a lot but i hear its totally possible to end up paying very little or nothing at all. i have 3 friends that go there and one only paid $3,000 her entire freshman year and the other about $9,000 total out of her pocket. my last friend got full tuition covered…

So how can i transfer into USC and pay no moolah? (Besides being a 5.0gpa student?) …Yea, i said five point O gpa.

hey johnnzen, yea i got that application though i havent turned anything in yet…

ive just done the optional part 1.

im gonna send everything in perhaps mid january when i receive my fall 2006 grades from my community college since its my only gpa. then im sure usc will ask for my spring grades in may.

but obsiously was told to apply for financial aid sooner and also for scholaships, along with the whole housing deal.

Don’t you need a letter of recommendation if you’re trying to transfer into Communications? Do you think I could just get my prof to fill out an extra Common App. letter of recommendation and send it them?

Actually…(anyone please stop me if this is wrong)

but i hear transfers do not need a letter or recommendation at all…and with Annenberg it is not a letter or recommendation but rather a letter of intent which is where you state why you want to attend their school.

dude im really scared of the safety around the usc campus. i get all these “Crime Alert” emails almost everyday on my USC email graphically depicting how some student(s) got mugged.

Other than that: 56 days left for move-in!! YEAAAHHH
